I transformed my hallway with a £12 purchase – it looks like wainscoting
Do you want to renovate your home, but you don’t have the time to redecorate it and you don’t want to spend money on it?
Well, you could do what this woman did and transform your space for less, and it’s very renter-friendly too.
Lois Katherine from Birmingham gave her hallways a makeover for just £12, and in no time at all.
She shared on TikTok how exactly she did it, and her viral video inspired people to do the same at home.
The mum bought the self-adhesive wallpaper from the TikTok store for just £11.30 – and she even had some left over.
The DIYer explained that she knew she had to try the trend after seeing other people doing the same thing on social media, so she took the plunge and placed her order.
The wallpaper comes in three different colors: black, gray and white, she noted.
“This was super thick and not thin and cheap looking. You just cut and peel it to size,” she said.
The wallpapering was easier than you might think, and Lois did it all by herself.
She started by applying one sheet behind the console table in her entryway, and when she was happy with the result, she added another sheet for some extra definition.
This bargain-hunting option is designed to look just like fancy wainscoting, but unlike the real thing, it’s inexpensive and easy to remove if you’re renting a home.
Lois did the same with two sheets of the self-adhesive design on the adjacent wall and the result looked stunning.
“Look at the difference, for less than £12,” the mother enthused on TikTok.
And she wasn’t the only one impressed with her handiwork, others also responded en masse in the comments to praise the transformation.
Someone said, “It looks beautiful, but can you see all the imperfections on the wall underneath?”
But Lois assured that the wallpaper is thick enough to hide any bumps and imperfections on your walls.
“This looks beautiful. I bought the same paper and I love the woody feel of it,” wrote a second.
“You make it look way too easy,” said another.
And someone else said, “How beautiful, well done.”
