I transformed my ugly garden corner into a ‘beautiful’ summer terrace with a B&Q purchase
Now that it has become nice and warm in recent weeks, many people have taken the liberty of sprucing up their gardens.
Melanie Jade, who is known as @melaniejadedesign on TikTok shared how she created her own “patio corner.”
In her video she shared how she breathed new life into her patio with some paint and stencils.
“I bought some Sandtex paint and we had a concrete patio laid, and [the paint] It took about three coats to cover it [the patio],” she said.
“It went very smoothly.”
The colour of the Sandtex paint is called Brilliant White and is available at B&Q for just £40.
She then used a stencil design from Dizzy Duck Designs to paint the pattern onto her patio with some black paint.
The one Melanie used is called Ksar and is available from £25.
“I started in the middle and worked my way out, and [I] glued the template to the concrete so it couldn’t shift.
“I used the black Sandtex paint and it needed two coats.”
She joked: “It dried really quickly because it was sunny for a change.”
Melanie said she loved the stencils and the result, but that the paint had bleed a little in some places.
“We added a pergola, our Rattan corner sofa and our egg chair.
“And I’m going to post some plants “To make it a little greener,” she said.
She added that her favorite time of day to sit out there is in the evening, “especially when we have our candles lit and small lantern lit”.
Melanie may live in the UK, but her terrace corner could easily resemble Ibiza or Mykonos, it looks so beautiful!
In the comments, she told her 72,000 followers that it cost £800 to get the patio onto the gravel and that her friend did it for her.
Melanie was asked why she started painting in the middle with the stencil and replied, “I did it so the edges would all look symmetrical.
“Also, it takes about an hour for the paint to dry, so I found it easier to start in the middle and work outward so I didn’t have to step on the paint!”
People were very enthusiastic in the comments about Melanie’s transformation of her patio, calling it ‘gorgeous’.
“What a change! Very Nice“, someone said.
Another wrote: “Awesome.. well done.”
A third commented: “Wow that looks absolutely gorgeous [hearts around face emoji].”
Someone else commented: “I love it.”
“Beautiful, well done,” said a fifth user.
