I travel braless and drench myself in perfume on planes so I look and smell ‘sexy’ to my husband – but fussy passengers and snooty flight attendants give me ‘dirty’ looks

A businesswoman claims ‘snooty’ flight attendants and passengers give her ‘dirty looks’ when she travels without a bra and sprays perfume on flights to ‘look and smell good’ for her husband.

Victoria Unikel regularly travels with her husband, Gene Avakyan, on business and revealed that her airport outfits have gotten her in trouble with staff for being “too revealing.”

The 46-year-old former top model, actress and author, who co-founded Vuga Media Group with her partner, says she usually wears “tight leggings” and “short strappy tops” without a bra when she goes to the airport and “drenches” herself with perfume mid-flight to feel “sexy.”

Despite ‘rude’ passengers criticizing her use of perfume and airline staff telling her to cover up, Victoria defends her choice of clothing as not being ‘inappropriate’.

Victoria, who lives in Miami, Florida, said: ‘I always get dirty looks from snooty flight attendants and passengers when I travel.

‘I want to look sexy but also be comfortable when I travel, whether I’m flying for business or pleasure. We always fly business class.

‘I plan weeks in advance what I’m going to wear to the airport. I usually wear designer gym clothes. Either tight fitting leggings or shorts so my butt looks good.

‘They don’t leave much to the imagination. They definitely give me a camel toe.

‘I wear a cropped top with straps, which is usually quite low cut. I never travel in a bra.

‘I think people have a problem with that. My tops can be quite see through. But I don’t really see the problem. Who wants to wear a bra on an eight-hour flight?

‘I don’t understand why women should be forced to feel uncomfortable just to make sure their nipples aren’t visible. It’s 2024. I should be able to show off my boobs.

‘Recently a flight attendant suggested that I might want to cover up a bit – she tried to suggest that I might be cold, but I know it was because my clothes were quite revealing.

‘I had a jacket in my hand luggage, but I didn’t think what I was wearing was inappropriate. It didn’t affect anyone else. So I wasn’t going to give in.

‘Eventually the flight attendant realized I wasn’t going to change and told me to sit down. I think they are far too strict.’

Victoria said: ‘I always take perfume in my hand luggage. Without it I wouldn’t be caught dead.

‘If I have to sit in a cramped, sweaty plane for hours, I don’t want to stink. I immerse myself in it. I’m terrified of BO.

‘I normally refill perfume every hour, no matter how long my flight is. It seems to annoy the people sitting next to me.

‘They usually give me dirty looks and I’ve even had passengers complain about me to the flight attendants because it’s so strong.

‘I had a woman tell me to stop because she kept sneezing, so I did. But other people are just so rude.

‘They clearly don’t have good taste. I don’t understand what’s wrong with wanting to smell nice.

‘I have to be so careful when I go through security that I don’t go over the limit.

“One time I forgot, and security threw away my favorite Givenchy perfume that Gene had bought for me. That was more than €400 straight down the drain.’

‘I like to feel sexy when I’m around my husband. I want to look good and smell good for him.

‘Just because we’ve been together for seven years doesn’t mean I won’t make any more effort, even on a plane.

‘He never forgets to tell me how great I look. It makes the travel experience more enjoyable.

‘He doesn’t care if people give me dirty looks. He is always so proud to have me on his arm. He also stands up for me when people are rude.

‘We have joined the mile high club. Only once. The flight attendant saw us both leaving the bathroom and was not impressed. I was terrified. I would never do it again.’

Victoria, who recently published her science fiction debut for children, ‘Emma + Luke + Disappear to Nowhere’ on September 15, admitted that in addition to perfume, she always carries a book with her on the plane.

Victoria said: “I enjoy reading science fiction and fantasy novels. I think people are surprised when they see me reading these kinds of books on the plane.

‘Passengers judge what I’m wearing and think I’m empty-headed. But actually I’m a bit of a nerd.

‘My guilty pleasure is the Harry Potter and Star Wars series. I got a lot of inspiration from it when I wrote my book.

‘I’ve been reading so much on the plane to avoid being bored, and I’m so excited that I’ve now written my own book. I know it will capture children’s imaginations.

‘It certainly won’t be my last book. I’ve got the writing bug now.’
