I tried out Lidl’s new range of Christmas candles – there’s one that’s similar to the one from M&S
JUST in time for the festive season, Lidl has unveiled a new range of Christmas candles so shoppers can fill their homes with festive aromas.
With prices starting from just €2.49, customers can get their hands on the new collection in the store’s center aisle from today.
With Google searches for holiday candles up 136 percent this month, shoppers can get their hands on these holiday-inspired scents.
The candles which are “ideal for adding a touch of Christmas cheer to any home” come in a variety of styles and claim to add a “welcoming touch to all rooms in your home.”
So I decided to put them to the test.
Light candles, £6.99
These candles come in a variety of scents, including Winter Glow and Peppermint Candy Cane, both of which I had the pleasure of trying, as well as a third scent called Sparkling Snow.
These candles are very similar in style to the Marks & Spencer light-up candles, which cost between £10 and £15.
When you light the wick, twinkling lights appear around the candle, creating a magical and festive atmosphere.
My first thoughts were that these candles are cute and very festive with their sparkling lights.
I immediately saw myself relaxing on the couch, with the Christmas tree glistening and my candle glowing on the side table.
It is super festive and creates a cozy atmosphere.
I did find the scent a bit disappointing.
Both candles had a slightly plastic, new car scent, which felt a little out of place.
There were faint hints of peppermint in the Peppermint Candy Cane candle, but it wasn’t particularly strong or overpowering.
The Winter Glow candle, on the other hand, had a scent reminiscent of a car air freshener.
If you’re looking for a strong, long-lasting scent, these may not be the best choice.
However, in terms of appearance, they are great.
If you’re looking for decorative purposes and don’t want to spend a fortune, these candles are a fantastic option.
But if you prefer a stronger scent and festive decoration, it might be worth looking elsewhere.
Personally, I’d suggest spending a little extra money on one of Marks & Spencer’s light-up candles as I find their scents tend to last longer.
bauble candles, £2.49
These baubles are incredibly chic and perfect for decorating your Christmas tree or home. They come in two delicious scents: Berry Spice and Buttery Shortbread, both of which are actually tastier.
I can only describe them as warm, wintery atmospheres.
The Berry Spice is super sweet and has a little something to it, while the Buttery Shortbread smells like a luxurious body cream with a white chocolate scent.
The Christmas baubles feel smooth and the design looks high-quality.
I think they would make a thoughtful gift for someone or make a lovely addition to your home for a festive touch without spending a lot of money.
They add a beautiful touch to my living room and are personally one of my favorites.
The Luxury Collection, £2.99
I also got my hands on their ‘luxury’ collection, with new scents including Ginger, and Apple and Cinnamon.
These candles, which are also available as a diffuser, cost €2.99 each, or you can buy two for €5.
If you’re looking for something chic, minimalist, yet festive, these are a great addition to the living room.
The smell is not so overpowering as to cause a headache, but is noticeable enough when someone enters the room.
Personally, I wouldn’t worry about the diffusers because I think the candles carry the scent better.
Another plus is that these candles can easily transition into January without looking out of place in your living room.
