I tried the Lush Turtles bath line – the jelly soap looks horrible but smells divine
LUSH has ambitions to create some great collaborations.
From the Shrek spa experience to Bridgerton bath bombs, they know how to tap into trends and create must-have products.
And their latest collection is ideal for ’90s fans, as they collaborate with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
As a kid I was a HUGE fan of the superheroes in the water. On Tuesday nights I was even allowed to eat alone in front of the TV because it was pizza and Turtles night.
I was eager to get my hands on this new collection, and it did not disappoint.
The selection arrived in a Turtles bus box and as soon as I opened it the amazing smell hit me in the face. I wish someone had invented scratch and sniff smartphones because it really was a treat for the senses.
Most Lush products focus on environmental friendliness.
The beauty brand’s team on the high street even claims that in real lifeturtles Love Lush for its commitment to keeping waterways free of excess water waste.
They put their money where their mouth is, because the foam from the packaging of my box melts when you hold it under the tap – very clever.
First out of the box was a giant bath bomb in the shape of Donatello’s face – sold! Not only did this look comically cute, it also smelled amazing with tangy lemongrass notes.
It is absolutely the biggest bath bomb I have ever seen and when I put it in the water and it hissed satisfyingly, I understood why. After sitting in the bath for a while, it cracked like an egg and inside was a little surprise – a purple soap in the shape of the iconic Turtles van.
According to the Lush team, you can collect them all, giving you a different surprise in each one.
I also loved the pizza bath bomb. Shaped like a slice of pizza, it smells good enough to eat – but please don’t be tempted. Because the bath bomb bomb foams, the bath melt topping – made with organic mango and illipe butter – melts to soften skin.
The collection also includes a Green Machine Bubble Bar, which you hold under the tap for a foaming bath, and a Turtle Power Solid Body Scrub, which uses sea salt and bamboo stem extract to exfoliate the skin.
There is also a Goongala Shampoo bar. I have recently become a fan of them. I never thought a small bar could wash my incredibly long hair – but they are top notch, they make the hair silky soft and keep it long.
The most strange and wonderful of the bunch is the Krang shower jelly – a channeling of the foursome’s arch nemesis. I have to be honest, this looks very strange when you open the tin. It wobbles and jiggles like a blancmange and looks very unappealing.
But the scent is divinely fruity with notes of bergamot and vanilla. And the jelly goes on like butter, leaving the skin super soft.
If you’re a Turtles fan, I’d say this collab is well worth the money… man.
