I use two $1.25 Dollar Tree purchases to heat my pool – my DIY trick is cheap and easy
A homeowner shared how she heats her pool on a budget using affordable dollar store products.
She only had to buy $1.25 at a Dollar Tree twice to heat her large pool.
Stephanie Garbe (@stephanie.garbe13) shared the DIY trick in a TikTok video.
“Looking for a cheap and easy trick for your pool in the summer?” she asked.
“Go to your local Dollar Tree and buy some hula hoops and some black garbage bags.”
She explained that with the two $1.25 purchases she was able to make homemade sunshades.
Stephanie grabbed four hula hoops and black garbage bags.
She started by attaching the garbage bags over the hula hoops and tying them closed with a double knot.
When the project was finished, she threw the hula hoops into the pool.
The hula hoop heats the water while it is in the sun.
Once the pool is properly heated, Stephanie simply hangs the hula hoops out to dry, she explains.
“Simple Dollar Tree trick that doesn’t involve struggling with a sunshade,” she said.
Commentators were pleasantly surprised and impressed with her simple DIY project.
“What an awesome and easy hack to heat up the water! It’s already so hot here in Texas!” said one commenter.
“How clever! Actually, pool heaters are almost free!” said another.
“I’ve seen someone do this with the black tablecloths from the party department, to make it even cheaper!” suggested one commenter.
“You can probably get two hoops out of each cloth!”
“What a great idea!! I’m going to try this out at our pool this summer!” said one excited viewer.
Others joked that they expected something different when they saw the video.
“I didn’t think it was meant to be sat on,” said one viewer.
“I thought it would be a swimming ring,” agreed another.
“Activities in an above ground pool,” joked a third.
