I used to hate washing my makeup brushes, but my ‘weird’ shower trick saves time
A beauty enthusiast has demythologized a better method for washing your makeup brushes.
Their trick may have been strange, but they believed it was simple and effective.
CAN’T THINK OF IT
Reddit user Undecided Libra01 has shared their secret for better-cleaned brushes.
“I have a strange process for washing my brushes. It’s strange but effective,” they said.
Before you judged, they wanted you to keep an open mind.
“I wash them in the shower, especially when I wait for the conditioners and masks to soak into my hair for five minutes,” they said.
“Actually, what’s worked for me for months is using the warm water, being in a place where I’m cleansing myself and not having to do anything else during that time, while I let my hair products do their thing,” they add.
NO PAIN PRO TIP
They explained that it also prevents unnecessary pain.
“I also find it annoying to have to hang over the sink for hours to wash brushes,” they said.
“It feels boring and gives me back pain.”

Instead, they use a bar of soap that is ‘specifically’ meant for washing their brushes.
They simply spin them over the bar a few times and then wash them with their hands.
Just make sure they are ‘completely saturated’ with water.
FASTER DRYING
They also had another helpful tip.
“That’s a niche, but after I squeeze out the excess water after rinsing, I put the clean brushes in a swim towel I have. There’s a little pouch in there (made from the towel itself) that I can literally store the towel in,” they said.
“It’s weird, but the towel pouch that completely covers the brushes actually helps them dry faster,” they added.
People who could relate to the pain of carefully cleaning their brushes would no doubt be grateful for the tip.
“I feel like I’m in my 80s, my back hurts from literally standing,” said one user.
“Yes, the back pain from leaning over the sink! I didn’t mention it in my post because I thought it was just me. I feel so seen!” they replied.
