A BRIDESMAID told of a sudden change in plans for the wedding ceremony she attended.
She said guests were shocked to hear during the wedding that a groom had been changed at the last minute.

Reddit user Certain performances56 described the debacle in a post on the social media platform.
She said that although the incident happened many years ago, she still felt compelled to tell the story.
She was in her twenties at the time and her group of seven friends became inseparable.
The group also included “Sarah” and “John”, a couple whose name she has changed for privacy reasons.
“Six months after graduation, we got together for Christmas lunch and Sarah told us she had a new job, was engaged, and they were looking for a house,” the Redditor wrote.
“She said that John was very excited about it and that we should get everything ready for their wedding in March and that of course we would all be bridesmaids.
“We were all so happy because they were going to be the first of all our friends to get married.”
WHERE DID IT WENT WRONG?
The Redditor said that after months of waiting, she still hadn’t heard from the bride about what to wear or any details about the wedding itself.
She added that she had not even received an invitation to the event.
“Three weeks before the wedding, the bridesmaid texted me saying I should buy a lilac dress,” she said.
“They sent me pictures of what they expected me to buy and said there would be no bachelor party because they didn’t want to spend money on it.
“I have the address and time for the church and the party.”
When they got there, the bridesmaid realized something was wrong. The bridesmaids told them to look after the groom’s family, who no one knew at the ceremony.
“Then she told me the groom’s name wasn’t John, but Michael, 23,” she said.
DAMAGE CONTROL
The bridesmaid said she introduced herself to the groom first because she noticed the new groom was very different from John.
“I introduced myself to Michael 10 minutes before the wedding. He was the complete opposite of John in every way,” she said.
“I had no idea who he was, or why she had married my friend, who had told me less than three months ago that she was marrying John.
“Michael’s whole family was there, super happy, and all of Sarah’s family and friends were very serious and quiet.”
THE REAL WORK
After they settled into the party, the bridesmaid finally explained why the old groom had been traded in for a new one.
“Sarah met Michael at her new office job in August last year. They were already together when John proposed and started paying off the house,” she said.
“Sarah called off the engagement in late January when she found out she was pregnant with Michael’s baby.”
The marriage lasted and the couple had five children together.
She later found out that John had been committed to a mental health facility, and that the way he treated Sarah was not appropriate for a prospective husband.
“The last time I heard about it, John got really sick and depressed and ended up in a mental institution,” she said.
“I also found out many years later that John wasn’t as nice to Sarah as we all thought. And even though he never showed any signs of abuse, we never knew what was going on behind closed doors.
“Sarah had been thinking about leaving him for a while, but I think after all those years of being with him, she felt like she had an obligation to marry him.”
