I was forced to live in my car – I have a portable toilet and kept my cat
A woman who lives in her car gave a tour of the setup she created.
She explained that unfortunate circumstances led to her settlement, but that she has made the most of the space she has.
In a viral videoTikTok user Patrick Botticelli (@njoutdooradventures) filmed ZeZe giving his followers a virtual tour of her car.
She explained that she lives permanently in the 2002 Chevy Cavalier and has her cat for company.
Zeze showed how she uses the driver’s seat as a dressing table and how she applies her make-up in the morning.
She used the front passenger seat as storage space, with a homemade shelving system for her food, appliances and other items.
In addition to her cat’s litter box, Zeze created her own mobile toilet with a similar setup.
She used half of the back seat as storage space, containing blankets and pillows, as well as a power bank, a tire pump and a cool box.
On the other side, ZeZe folded down the back seat, creating a platform for her bed.
She placed a foam mattress on top and placed a fan and lights around her for more comfort.
She also puts a sunshade on the window when she sleeps in her car.
“When I stretch, my feet go all the way back to the end of my boot,” she said as she demonstrated the setup.
She has maintained a positive attitude despite her basic living conditions.
“She is doing great and looking forward to traveling and camping,” Patrick said in the clip’s caption.
Her followers shared their thoughts about her attitude in the comments.
“Damn, this is real. I’m [on] night three in my SUV with my dog and cat and husband, finally starting to adjust but realize I still have a lot to adjust to,” one viewer wrote.
“She made the best of her situation. Pretty cool,” said someone else.
Rules for living in a car
CAR LIVING is on the rise as people struggle with the cost of living and others seek a nomadic existence.
This is everything we know about the rules for driving in the UK.
In the UK it is legal to live in your car as long as you follow a few rules.
The only condition is that your car has passed the MOT and is fully legal for public roads.
If the car is legally parked, there are no rules prohibiting sleeping or living in a car.
The trend of living in a car or van has become very popular in the United States, where people have been forced to leave their rental homes after landlords raised the rent.
Others have chosen to remain living in their vehicles and build a free, nomadic existence, traveling throughout the country.
There are certain circumstances where it is not legal to sleep in a car in the UK.
First, you must park in a safe parking lot without violating any parking rules.
In certain parking lots, airports, and in national parks and forests, there are restrictions on overnight parking. This means that you are not allowed to stay overnight in a vehicle there.
If you break the rules, you could be fined or even have your vehicle towed.
Secondly, you must not be over the legal alcohol limit and must not be under the influence of drugs if you plan to sleep in your car.
If you are over the limit, you can be charged with driving under the influence in a public place, even if you are not driving.
The ban on sleeping in a car while drunk is laid down in the Road Traffic Act of 1988.
The rule says you can be found guilty of an offence if you are in charge of a vehicle on a road or public place “after consuming so much alcohol that the amount of alcohol in your breath, blood or urine exceeds the prescribed limit.”
“I absolutely love this. She is so resourceful and she made this a home,” a third TikTok user commented.
“What an amazing storage space, darling, and you still make an effort to look beautiful, I admire you,” said another follower.
“I’m so proud of you girl. A home is what we make it. You have your own house and your little kitty, I love it,” one person wrote.
“Aww, baby girl, you’re beautiful and [I’m] “I love your car, you are amazing,” said someone else.
