I was quoted £700 for a Christmas door arch but did it myself for just £12.50
A WOMAN has revealed she charged £700 for a Christmas door arch so decided to do it herself on the cheap.
Carrie Boyd, 35, who lives in South Manchester with her husband, 39, and their two children, 11 and seven, explained that she used branches from her garden and baubles from The Range to bring the festive atmosphere to her home.
She said she had also given her house number a festive upcycle and also made her own snow window.
Delighted with her DIY display, which cost her £12.50, Carrie took to social media to share it with others, leaving many open-mouthed.
The clever mum, who recently transformed her ‘abandoned’ home for next to nothing, then explained: “Two years ago I was quoted £700 for a Christmas door arch.
“I politely declined and every year I now make my own from the greenery I cut from my garden.

“So every year now I make my own, for a small part of that.
“It’s time for the magical arc of 2024.”
The brunette beauty claimed she cut branches from her garden and added them to the base she created.
She also added lights and baubles sourced from The Range, as she continued: “This door number will be replaced soon so I gave it a fun, festive upcycle.
“I also made my own snow window, which cost me a fiver!”
Showing off the completed festive door arch, Carrie beamed, “It looks so beautiful at night.”
Carrie explained to Fabulous that it took her four days to create her Christmas scene.
She says: “I reused all the pipes and lights from last year, which cost me £40.
Will the Christmas pieces come out earlier this year?
It often feels like Christmas decorations and products appear in stores earlier every year.
Retailers typically start stocking holiday items well in advance of the holidays to take advantage of early buyers and extend the shopping period. Here are a few reasons why it looks like the Christmas pieces are coming out earlier this year:
Extended shopping season
Retailers are looking to extend the holiday shopping season to maximize sales. By releasing Christmas items earlier, they encourage people to start Christmas shopping earlier.
Consumer demand
Some consumers prefer to plan and shop for Christmas items well in advance, so stores are responding to this demand by stocking Christmas items earlier.
Marketing strategy
Early displays of Christmas items can create a festive atmosphere and build anticipation, encouraging people to get into the Christmas spirit and spend.
Competition
Retailers compete to attract customers, and being the first to display holiday items can give them an edge.
Supply chain considerations
Given recent disruptions to global supply chains, stores could release holiday items earlier to ensure they have sufficient inventory and to spread demand over a longer period.
“This year I only spent €12.50 extra on Christmas baubles. Total costs €52.50!!
The Instagram clip, which was posted under the username @deboydshahhomehas clearly stunned many, as it has quickly amassed 11,500 views.
