I was told that my outfit was not appropriate for work and that I should ‘watch the angle’
A recent college graduate spoke candidly about the criticism she received at work because of her outfit.
She was shocked when she was confronted about her ‘inappropriate’ clothing.
Reddit user Wherearethestarsss shared the fashion fail in a post.
She explained that she had recently started her “first real job” in youth care.
The initiation process consisted of training sessions via Zoom.
“This week I have to do Zoom training all day, all week,” she said.
Since she didn’t need to be physically present, she opted for a pair of sweatpants to keep things comfortable.
“I had my camera set up so that only my upper body was visible,” she said.
She didn’t realize she had made a mistake during the meeting.
“I adjusted my sitting position a few times, so I think the trainer saw my leg a few times,” she said.
“She asked me to stay afterwards and said she could see my shorts and that I should watch the angle of the camera or wear more work clothes.”
She added that while shocked by the call, she understood the need for the conversation.
“I totally understand why she said that and I will definitely be careful about it in the future, but I am so embarrassed about it!” she said.
The Redditor added that it was a change in work-life culture that she had to get used to.
“Honestly, I never thought about it because when I was in school and taking online classes, I wore shorts all the time,” she says.
“Of course it was a different setting, but still. When you look at it now, it seems natural to be aware of it.
I totally understand why she said that and I will definitely pay attention to it in the future, but I am so ashamed of it!

“I’m just so embarrassed, and that trainer is going to be doing all my training this week. Lesson learned, I guess.”
The viewers comforted her and admitted that this was a mistake that was easily made.
“When I was in my 20s, a supervisor said she could see my ass crack when I bent over,” one said.
“She was super nice about it and even gave me advice on how to find clothes that fit my body type.
“Of course I was ashamed at the time, but now it’s a beautiful memory.
“You learn. That’s what 20s and first jobs are for.”
