Josh Taylor warned that he will not compete with Tyson Fury as the comeback king – while looking to fight the threat of retirement.
The Scottish former undisputed world champion for light-cycling weight goes up from 140 pounds to 147LB Against Ekow Essuman in Glasgow tonight.
And he does this outside the back of two consecutive defeats with Taylor Everything, but put his career at the top of the sport at stake.
But he warned if and when he retires, it will be real, unlike his old friend Fury who made it a habit to go back to his word.
Taylor, 34, said: “I will not be Tyson Fury with six and seven comebacks. When I’m done, I’m ready.
“But I still have a lot of ambition and I still have a lot of ride to achieve more. [retiring] has not even come to me to be honest with you
“I didn’t even understand it, it can’t stand in me. It can’t happen, it won’t happen.
“If that happens and I have to go back to the ladder and fight fewer opponents to go back to where I am now – no, I don’t do that. I am here to be the best.”
Taylor became The four-belt undisputed Kingpin in just 18 fights But escaped with a split decision against Jack Catterall in 2022.
He was then defeated by Teofimo Lopez in 2023 and lost to Catterall in their Rematch last May.

Taylor admits that he could retire a happy man – but still has enough to reach after he has moved to good weight.
He said: “This is a new trip for me, the first fight on a new weight.
“I have not done anything yet. Many people write to me and say,” He is ready, he’s ready. “No chance, I’m not nearly ready yet.
“I have a lot of fire in my stomach to prove that people are wrong again. This is Josh Taylor 2.0 – and it starts on Saturday evening with an extensive victory.
“If I become a two -time world champion two weight, then I can retire a happy man. To be honest, I could now retire a happy man.
“I could retire tomorrow and one in 60 million or which population in the UK is also the only one who becomes the undisputed world champion in the era of four edges.
“I think I can sleep quite easily at night after I have achieved that. But I know I would think six months later,” I could have done more, I could have taken more out of it. “That would bother me.”
