The single mother of two previously lived in a council house which she described as ‘not the best’.

On the way back from the dentist with the kids, she saw the Tramway Path prize draw when a Facebook advert appeared on her phone.

“I’ve never won anything, maybe a pound on a scratch card,” said the mother, who is originally from Poland but has lived in Britain for the past decade.

“We were joking that one day we would win a big, big jackpot.”

Speaking about her family’s living situation before the win, Angelika, a hairdresser, explained that after breaking up with the children’s father, she had to move in with her sister.

She said: “I was effectively homeless. I registered myself as homeless with the government and within a few months they
offered me a house where I could live with the children.

“It’s just the town hall, [they] are not the best.
“The entire process of renovating the entire building, which lasted more than two years, demanded a lot from me.”

The mum entered the lottery at the end of last year, bought a £5 ticket online and was stunned when she won the huge prize draw.

Tramway Path previously gave away three apartments worth £500,000 in one go in central Bristol, as well as several other homes across the UK.

The company is run by three brothers, Daniel, Jay and Will Twenefour, who are determined to shake up the real estate market.

Their final draw was for a cash prize of £500,000, which could help the lucky winner secure their dream home.

For Angelika, this meant buying a five-bedroom house to raise her daughters mortgage-free.

The property, which has a separate utility room and two living rooms, comes with a large garden and a luxurious new bathroom.
but also offers the opportunity for a modern renovation.

She said: “It didn’t even occur to me [that I’d win].”

Angelika added that it was the “most rewarding” thing she had ever done, apart from having children.

One of her priorities when house hunting was finding a property with enough space to create a sensory space for her daughter Ella, who has autism and is non-verbal.

In a sweet video of the brothers talking to Angelika and her children after the win, the mother shares the big news with the girls, who seem happy at the prospect of having their own bedroom.

When asked what impact the huge win has had on them, Angelika simply says: “Freedom.”

Describing her ideal home before she bought it, she said she wanted a home with “character and a solid foundation.”
