In her viral videoTikTok user Emma Frances (@emmafranceslev) said she came across the look by chance when trying on her family’s wedding dresses.

She explained that her sister had picked up the vintage dress for £27 to wear on a photoshoot.

Emma saw the dress when she tried on her mother and grandmother’s dress.

The TikToker tried the look out of curiosity and was shocked by how much she liked it.

“Wait, if I add any more structure, I’m not kidding, this is exactly what I had in mind,” she said.

Emma said the dress had all the elements she was hoping for, including a dropped waist, pearls, delicate lace detailing and a midi length.

She explained that she had to add boning to the bodice to give it more structure.

However, it was a temporary change that caused a stir among her viewers.

Emma admitted the flowy, off-the-shoulder sleeves weren’t her style.

She decided to have a seamstress tuck them into the bodice so that it looked like the sleeves were empty.

I was sure my find at the thrift store couldn’t be real – even the authenticator ‘screamed’ when she verified its real value

While the change was made with her sister’s approval and could easily be undone, TikTok users were less than impressed with the move.

“ARE YOU KIDDING? The sleeves were the BEST PART,” said one follower.

“I think the sleeves are so beautiful and they give the dress an extra dimension,” wrote another TikToker.

“Honestly, it looks like a cute dress without the sleeves, but there’s nothing wrong with it for a wedding. The sleeves help give it a leg up in the wedding dress category,” a third person noted.

“The sleeves were the moment,” said another viewer.
