I work at Wetherspoons – there’s a £6 secret meal and it’s better than Wagamama
If you want value for money, the Wetherspoon pubs are the place to go, and it’s not just for cheap drinks.
Punters have loved the great value menu at Spoons for years, from their tasty pizzas to delicious side dishes.
But according to a Wetherspoon employee, there’s one menu item that never gets any love, but it’s by far her favorite.
Macey Newberry took to TikTok to rave about the secret menu item, which she claimed is even better than similar dishes from Wagamama.
“This was my favorite thing,” she said, as she tucked into a bowl of steaming chicken ramen.
The dish, which costs around £6, consists of flavoursome broth, noodles, chicken and everything you’d expect from a tasty bowl of ramen.

“If you could get ramen anywhere else Englandlike a Wagamama you pay a minimum of £11 or £12.
“So for six quid I can definitely say this is better than a Wagamama,” said Macey.
The foodie then raved about the incredible “depth of flavor” of the broth, which she said is even better than the chain restaurant’s flavor.
Macey even went so far as to say that Wagamama’s ramen tasted “like dishwater”, unlike the cheap and cheerful ramen bowl of trusty old Spoons.
Other foodies were left divided over the claim, with many unable to believe the pub could serve such a delicious dish.
“I thought the noodles were way too soggy,” one person commented on the viral clip.
Another agreed: “It has no taste! I work in Spoons so maybe it’s just our pub.”
Meanwhile, others were firmly on Macey’s side, with one commenting: “I love it! Much better than the Wagas chicken ramen. The Spicey hits though.”
For anyone looking to add a little more spice to their Wetherspoon ramen, Macey recommended adding the garlic chili sauce.
“I’ve been wanting to try it for ages, you twisted my arm. I’m definitely going to have to try it now,” someone else wrote.
However, the dish isn’t the only thing Macey is excited about on social media; she recently shared a secret hack to get the most out of your nachos at the pub.
“If you’re in the tough spot of choosing between a five-bean chili meal or a bowl of nachos, you can have both,” she said.
When you order your food you have to go to the bar to customize them.
Simply ask the employee who takes your order to add a five-bean chili.
However, you should make it clear that you don’t want the five-bean chili as a meal, but rather from the deli section of the menu, where the baked potato add-on options are.
“If you’d had both meals it would have been £15, but I’ve just saved £8, you’re welcome,” said Macey.
How can I save money at Wetherspoons?
FREE refills – Buy €1.50 of tea, coffee or hot chocolate and get free refills. The deal is available all day, every day.
Check a map – Prices may vary by location, even if they are close together.
So if you’re planning on having a pint at a Spoons, it’s worth checking out nearby pubs to see if you can get the cheapest deal.
Choose your day – Every evening the pub chain organizes certain theme evenings with food.
For example, every Thursday evening there is a curry club, where diners can get a main meal and a drink for a fixed price cheaper than normal.
Collection slips – Students can often purchase voucher books from their local universities, which offer discounts on food and drink, so keep your eyes peeled.
Request an app – The Wetherspoons app allows you to order and pay for your drink and food from your table, but you don’t have to be in the pub to use it.
Taking full advantage of this, cheeky customers have taken to social media to ask their friends and family to order drinks for them. The app can be downloaded for free from the App Store or Google Play.
Check the date – Every year Spoons holds its Tax Equality Day to highlight the benefits of a permanently reduced tax bill for the pub industry.
It usually takes place in September and last year it fell on Thursday, September 14.
In addition to the 12-day Real Ale Festival each autumn, Wetherspoons also hosts a Spring Festival.
