I work in a daycare and there is a child with a very unique name, it’s so awkward
Nowadays, many parents choose unique names for their little ones, but this child might just have the most bizarre name yet.
The unique nickname was shared by a daycare worker, who was stunned by the mother’s choice.
The employee shared the name in a popular Facebook group, writing: “To be honest, most of the kids had pretty normal names.”
Except for one young child, who was raised by her grandmother.
“The grandmother called her by her middle name because the baby’s official first name was Phelonie,” the nursery teacher said.
It’s no surprise that people were amazed by the name and many couldn’t believe the mother would use it.
One of them said, “Why would you do that to your child?”
But even worse was the fact that another teacher encountered a child with the same name.
“When I came on I had a Phelony [in my class]”, she responded to the post.
“I mispronounced it on purpose because I couldn’t imagine anyone calling their child a crime.
“The whole class corrected my pronunciation. I felt so sorry for the cute little girl.”
Others thought the name should be banned, it was that bad.
“I’m surprised it (regardless of how it’s spelled) isn’t a banned name,” one said.
But the controversial name isn’t the only one baffling people online.
Another teacher shared on social media which name baffled her.
It seems the millennial parents took their inspiration from the cult teen film series, Twilight.
She said she often comes across strange names at school, but this one stood out.
She wrote: “I’m a teacher so I come across a lot of strange names.
“But recently I was called back when I was employed as a motorist.
“One of the children was called Renesmee(iykyk).
“I looked twice!”
The teacher was of course talking about the movie saga Twilight, in which main characters Edward Cullen and Bella Swan give birth to a vampire/human hybrid named Renesmee Carlie Cullen.
“Who would have thought we had a vampire child in our midst???” she joked.
Someone wrote: “Lord, when I read Twilight when I was 14 and they named the baby Renesme, I thought that was the dumbest s**t ever. To name your kid that is obscene.”
Another commented: “My daughter has twins in her class, Renee and Renesmae. I wish I was lying.”
“I have taught so many children named Bella, born between 2008 and 2013. It is horrible,” wrote a third.
The Struggle of Choosing a Baby Name
CHLOE Morgan, a senior writer at Fabulous, has revealed her dilemma when choosing a baby name…
I’m 35 weeks pregnant and the hardest part of pregnancy these past few months (apart from the insomnia and countless nighttime wetting!) has been coming up with a baby name.
The dilemmas are endless…
My partner and I had a private ultrasound to find out the gender as early as possible. Part of the reason for this was that we thought it would make choosing a baby name a lot easier, as we would only have to come up with a list of names for one gender instead of two.
How wrong we were…
I was overjoyed to find out I was pregnant with the baby girl I had dreamed of for so long. But because I was one of the last friends to get pregnant, I have had countless conversations with excited friends over the years about their favorite baby names…something I would like to undo without ever having heard.
Every friend comes up with at least 10 possible nicknames and I can’t help but feel like more names are out of the question, even though I know no one would object. It’s just my own problem!
This debate comes up over and over again on social media: can you choose the same name that was a ‘potential’ name for your friend’s baby?
It’s a very divisive topic and opinions are always divided. And I don’t want to be THAT person.
While some argue that there are thousands of other names to choose from, others say that you should choose YOUR favorite. After all, there is no guarantee that person will ever have a child.
Then there’s the matter of finding a name you love… and then doing some research online and reading one negative comment among hundreds of positive ones that you just can’t let go of.
I made that same mistake when I fell in love with a certain name (I won’t tell because I don’t want to ruin it for others!)… and then I saw someone point out that the name constantly autocorrects on a phone to something rather rude.
So we went back to the drawing board.
Only five more weeks and it looks like our little girl will be called ‘baby girl’ for a while longer!
