According to a former employee, TK Maxx customers can reduce their total bill simply by asking for it — it’s really That simple.
The ex-employee, known only as Patience, took to TikTok to reveal the secrets of an easy way to save money, a trick that will come in handy the next time you visit your favorite coupon site.
The 23-year-old from Manchester worked at the store for five years before quitting in November last year and has since been sharing secrets about the popular retailer.
Patience informed other shoppers and fashion-conscious people by explaining the difference between red and yellow tickets and how you can save money with them.
While red stickers typically mean the item has been “on sale too long and is discounted,” the yellow equivalent means the item is “on sale and past its sell-by date and should be thrown away.”
“If it’s not bought by the time it costs 50p, […] “We throw it away,” she revealed of the process in the videoexplaining how you can use this to your advantage.
Imagine you work in the skincare industry and you see a product is on red sale, normally they don’t discount products on red sale.
”But if you see something similar that’s a little bit cheaper, you might think, ‘Oh, I saw this – are those two the same price? ‘
“If they say ‘Oh no, this one has been in the store for a while, they are two different codes’, then you can negotiate a little bit.”
According to the ex-employee, staff will usually ‘give in and just give you the discount’.
Patience previously revealed that consumers can return just about anything, even without a receipt – except for one item.
She claimed that if you bought something three months ago but haven’t used it, you can go to TK Maxx and show a bank statement showing a purchase you made in the last month.
According to the former employee, the staff will refund the amount as long as the total amount is the same and the purchase was made in the last four weeks.
How does TK Maxx Designer sell cheap?

- It buys goods from various brands and designers at a discount and then sells them to customers at prices lower than traditional stores.

She added: “Guys, when I say whatever, I mean whatever. You can return underwear, you can return shoes, you can return jars that you’ve used, you can return blenders – you can something”
There is, however, one item that the store is very strict about when it comes to returns: earrings.
Fellow TK Maxx fans turned out in droves for the comments, with one mother writing: “Yes! My son lost a tag and they looked up and put the price up, I said I knew it was cheaper.
“I found the tag when I was in the car, so I walked back myself and saw the difference.”
Another thanked for the helpful information, writing: “I’m here because it’s my favorite store EVER. Obsession.”
