A BRIDE has shocked people after she shared her list of strict wedding rules – rules her guests reportedly ‘hate’.

When it comes to your big wedding day, you want to make sure everything goes as smoothly as possible. That’s why a bride from New York, USA, has put together a long list of do’s and don’ts.

The US-based bride went viral after sharing the 'controversial' Do's and Don'ts her guests had to follow

But unfortunately for Ivy, who is known as @ivy.eventideas On TikTok, the rules were not appreciated by her friends and family who attended the big day. They were said to ‘hate’ the rules.

One of the ‘controversial’ rules that the guests had to adhere to was that they were not allowed to bother the DJ with requests. If your favorite bop music was not on the playlist, you simply had to wait until you were in the car for it to be played.

The bride was so keen to have as little music played as possible at the venue that she sent her guests to the local club if they wanted to dance to other hits.

No wedding is complete without selfies and snaps, but Ivy reportedly told her photographer not to take any photos of the guests.

“I didn’t pay $10,000 for random portraits,” the bride explained her reasoning behind the controversial decision in the video.

Planning a wedding is stressful and expensive, so the event organizer immediately rejected the idea of bringing extra people.

Ivy responded, “I’m not going to stress and pay for strangers I’ve never met.”

Those attending the wedding were also not allowed to drink alcohol that day, as the bride wanted to make sure that everyone would remember this special occasion.

But it appears it wasn’t just those in attendance who ‘hated’ the controversial list; hundreds of social media users were also less than impressed.

Nearly 2,000 people responded en masse and shared their thoughts on the viral video, which has been viewed more than 700 times in just one day.

I got married for less than £400 – people say I looked ‘beautiful’ in my £20 dress and my husband bought his ring for £14 from Asos

Several people pointed out the lack of logic. For example, someone said: “Your guests can’t have a beautiful photo as a reminder of your wedding, but no alcohol as a reminder of your wedding.”

One pro agreed, adding, “As a wedding photographer, I think it’s adorable when people ask for photos with their significant other. You get adorable photos of your guests looking their best and it literally takes 2 seconds.”

Someone else chimed in: “I mean, a private ceremony would have been fine too.

“You don’t need a big party if you don’t like your guests.”

“I think I’ll just skip the wedding,” a fourth joked.

Are marriage rules good or bad?

By Josie Griffiths, Fabulous Deputy Editor and Bride-to-be

Josie Griffiths said: When I was planning my wedding last August, the idea of sending out a list of ‘rules’ never crossed my mind.

The first two this bride created seem reasonable, but also logical, but after that they descend into chaos.

It seems a bit over the top to me to require that all photos be ‘approved’ before they are published and to ask guests to stick to a ‘minimalist’ color palette.

And if you bluntly tell your guests to leave you alone when you arrive at the ceremony and eat your dinner, while also asking them to say goodbye before you leave, that’s a little crazy.

I don’t know how many guests this bride is inviting, but everyone knows that weddings can be hectic. Sure, it would be nice to greet and say goodbye to everyone personally, but I’ve come to terms with the fact that that’s probably not going to happen.

As with everything in life, if you worry about the way things are going, chances are they’re going to fail.

I don’t pretend to be the most relaxed bride ever and I can’t promise that I won’t get stressed if we’re running late on the morning of my wedding, but this is just a huge exaggeration.

I agree with the commenters, I wouldn’t go there.

“Do you even have any friends you can invite? You sound like a fun person,” one viewer wrote, sarcastically calling Ivy’s husband “a lucky guy.”

This comes after another bride took the internet by storm with claims she forced her guests to help her set up the wedding venue.

The woman, who posts on the platform under @thepovcameraapp5, said she didn’t hire any staff, so everyone had to do their part. Even her grandfather wasn’t spared from his duties, despite his back problems.

There was also a strict ban on a maximum of two drinks, as the couple wanted to save as much money as possible and also ‘avoid family dramas caused by excessive drinking’.
