IIT Roorkee and Kyoto University launch joint lab focused on healthy aging – Times of India
The inauguration was attended by representatives from IIT-Roorkee, KU, and guests including R Madhu Sudan, Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of India, Tokyo.
The KU-IITR joint laboratory aims to integrate expertise in biology, chemistry, artificial intelligence, machine learning, water sciences and nutrition studies to develop innovative solutions for age-related diseases. This collaboration symbolizes a convergence of the strengths of two leading institutions: KU’s expertise in chemical and cellular biology and the advanced technical resources of IIT-Roorkee.
Kamal Kishore Pant, Director, IIT-Roorkee, said, “By working with Kyoto University, we aim to tackle complex health challenges and create impactful, sustainable solutions for a better future.”
Nagahiro Minato, President of DU, said: “IN-CBI represents the potential of international collaboration to advance breakthrough discoveries. Together with IIT Roorkeefor which we will build a foundation transformative research with lasting social impact.”
The initiative is led by Professor Ganesh Pandian Namasivayam, supported by a multidisciplinary team from both institutions, including Professor P Gopinath, Principal Investigator, IIT-Roorkee, and Professor M Uesugi, Director of iCeMS, KU.
