I’m 43 and hate bags under my eyes. Will Victoria Beckham’s £64 concealer work?
Although I don’t think I look bad for being 43, my bags under my eyes have always been my biggest annoyance.
I have three kids and a busy job as a writer, so sometimes I feel tired. But no matter how much sleep I get, my face looks permanently exhausted.
I’ve tried everything to cover my dark circles, including expensive concealers from top brands like Charlotte Tilbury and MAC, plus all kinds of eye creams and gels.
I even invested in LED face masks, under-eye gel pads, and massage rollers to get rid of the bags.
But no matter how much I spend, those dark circles don’t go away.
My go-to concealer has become Maybelline Fit Me. It’s cheap and cheerful, but while it looks okay when you first apply it, it fades quickly.
So when I heard about Victoria Beckham’s revolutionary new concealer pen, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on one.
In tests, 100 percent of test subjects agreed that it visibly improved the appearance of dark circles, without settling into pores and other imperfections. But, like most Posh products, it doesn’t come cheap.
At a staggering price of £64 for 2.4ml the question becomes: is a concealer really worth that?
Nowadays, famous beauty brands are big business.
Earlier this week, The Sun revealed how actress Selena Gomez became a billionaire thanks to the success of her series Rare Beauty.
And there are many more stars, such as Rihanna, Kylie Jenner and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, who all have their own successful makeup lines.
In 2019, VB decided that she also wanted to get a piece of the beauty world and launched Victoria Beckham Beauty.
The Spice Girl ventured into the beauty market with her perfectly groomed toes back in 2016, when she teamed up with Estée Lauder to release a limited-edition line of skincare and makeup.
Victoria Beckham Beauty has been receiving rave reviews so far, with her Satin Kajal liners (£30 each) and Baby-Blade Microfine Brow Pencil (£32) already becoming beauty editor favourites.
But this latest product launch could be her biggest success yet.
Developed in collaboration with Augustinus Bader, the stem cell scientist and founder of his own skincare brand, the Concealer Pen comes in 16 shades and offers “light to medium coverage.”
It’s packed with skin care ingredients like Acetyl Hexapeptide-8, which is said to reduce wrinkles, and Polyglutamic Acid, which can improve hydration and elasticity.
The special formula is said to “improve your complexion in four weeks.” Victoria says: “Imagine a concealer that you need less of the more you use it.
“The formula quickly and easily camouflages dark circles and blemishes, but the ingredient technology inside The Concealer Pen is just as powerful as skincare.
“It works like a super nutrient for your skin, providing smooth, brightening coverage that isn’t too greasy or drying.”
Could Posh’s concealer be the answer to my puffy eye prayers?
It’s very pricey, but if it works I’d consider it part of my budget.
I ordered it online after taking the ‘match my shade’ quiz on her website.
You enter the color of other products you use and you will then be given a recommended shade.
I was worried that the shade “M2” online would be too dark for me, but when it arrived it was perfect.
It works as a super nutrient for your skin, along with providing a smooth, brightening coverage that isn’t too greasy or drying.
Victoria Beckham
It’s medium, with golden undertones. Victoria’s claims sound great, but does it really work?
For me the answer is simple: yes.
This product is truly impressive.
The pen is simple to use and although many brands no longer use this type of click pen, I found it easy to use.
First, you have to press the button several times until the concealer ends up on the brush.
The best ever
It took so long for it to come out that I started to worry that my Pen was running out of juice.
For best results, apply to well-hydrated skin, so I made sure to apply a good layer of a thick moisturizer from Estee Lauder before applying the concealer.
The brush was fantastic, you could apply it well under the lash line and I felt like I could hold it well and apply the product gently.
It was also easy to apply in the right place, which meant I didn’t feel like I was wasting any of this expensive product. I applied it not only under my eyes, but also on my eyelid, as that area can sometimes look veined and dark too.
I suffer from large bags under my eyes and I would like to get rid of them. In terms of coverage, this product was quite light.
However, I was able to build it to a medium coverage without it looking too cakey.
It covered up the blue discoloration under my eyes and also improved the visibility of my fine lines.
If it actually leads to a reduction in impact in the future, that’s even better.
I would love to use this every day, but in reality I can’t afford it

And if it does the job of a concealer and an eye cream, it’s a little more bang for your buck.
The concealer has become an indispensable item in my makeup bag.
It’s nice to know that it not only hides my dark circles, but also treats them and makes me look less tired.
It is without a doubt the best concealer I have ever used.
I would love to use this everyday but in reality I can’t afford it. I will have to save this for special, or should I say fancy, occasions.
Expert make-up artist gives her opinion
VISAGARIS Lisa Coleman says: “I find the packaging frustrating because you can’t see how much is left in the tube.
“The color match online is also a bit tricky. If you want to try this product, go to a beauty counter where you can get the right color match.
“It’s quite a high coverage under-eye shade. It’s definitely meant to conceal, rather than reflect light, in the same way that a product like YSL Touche Eclat does.
“A little goes a long way, so use sparingly to avoid aging your face. Overall it was a great product, but there are many options on the high street that cost a lot less and do the same job.
“Shop around and try out some testers if you can before investing such a large amount of money.”

Lynsey says: ‘It has really good coverage and has really brightened up the skin under my eyes.
‘It was easy to blend and effective at hiding blemishes and redness’
Lynsey says: “It has quite a heavy coverage, but the texture was thick and a bit greasy.”

Lynsey says: “Fantastic concealer for the price. It gave a thick coverage that lasted into the evening.”
Lynsey says: “This one has good coverage but it does go on a bit cakey which can draw attention to any creases. The tube lasts a long time.”
