Dominique filmed herself in her hallway, asking her followers: “Are you ready for your 50 over 50? Or 50 reps or 50 seconds.”

According to Dominique, you only need to do five different exercises for this workout.

And even better, it doesn’t have to take hours. In fact, it will take you less than five minutes.

For the first exercise you need to do squats, 50 times or for 50 seconds.

NextIt’s 50 reps or 50 seconds of push-ups, which you can do on your knees or on your toes, whatever you prefer.

After this, you have to do 50 reps or 50 seconds of sit-ups. Instead of putting her feet on the ground, Dominique prefers to do the exercises on her back, with her legs in the air, while crunching upwards.

This is followed by a 50 second plank exercise. Depending on your strength, you can do this exercise on your hands or elbows.

And to finish off the workout challenge, do a 50-second wall squat. This exercise can be done on any wall around your home and is sure to get your muscles burning.

How much should you exercise and when?

The NHS and government have issued guidelines on how much exercise people should get per day.

People should be active daily and avoid prolonged sitting.

The NHS advises adults – aged 19 to 64 – to do 150 minutes of ‘moderate intensity activity’ a week.

This equates to 21 minutes per day, or 30 minutes five days a week.

Or they can do 75 minutes of vigorous exercise per week, which is less than 11 minutes per day, or 25 minutes three days per week.

Adults should also aim to do strength training exercises at least twice a week.

Examples of moderate-intensity activities include brisk walking, water aerobics, cycling, dancing, doubles tennis, pushing a lawn mower, hiking, or roller skating.

Examples of vigorous activities include running, swimming, cycling on a fast bike or in the mountains, climbing stairs, sports such as football, rugby, netball and hockey, skipping rope, aerobics, gymnastics or martial arts.

Things like lifting heavy weights, sprinting up hills, spinning classes or circuit training are considered high intensity.

What time should you exercise?

It’s a good idea to exercise every day, regardless of the time.

But depending on your goal, you may want to be more selective.

A 2023 US study of 5,285 middle-aged adults found that exercising between 7 and 9 a.m. is the best time to lose weight.

Researchers found that people who hit the gym early had lower body mass indexes (BMIs) and waist circumferences than people who exercised later in the day.

A 2022 study led by Prof. Paul J Arciero of Skidmore College in New York found that the optimal time of day to put on your gear can differ depending on your gender.

According to Professor Arciero, women who want to lose fat around their stomach and hips should go to the gym in the morning. However, women who want to strengthen their upper body or simply improve their mood will see more results from exercising in the evening.

In men, the results were opposite.

If you have trouble falling asleep, exercising in the morning can help. However, exercising in the evening can also help you sleep through the night.

In general, exercise can improve the quality of your sleep.

Dominique raved about her simple and straightforward workout routine, sharing, “And that, my friend, is your 50 Over 50.”

Encouraging others to join in and do the same, the fitness fan beamed: “Go for it! Your body will thank you. You can do this!”

How to Look Fabulous at 50

A GP has revealed the best anti-aging skincare routine to help you look younger in your 50s.

According to Dr. Ginni Mansberg of Sydney, Australia, your skin becomes more sensitive in the decade after you turn 50, so you’ll need to improve your skin care.

She told the Emphatic: “At this age, most women are going through menopause or have just entered it.

“This hormonal change brings with it sensitivity.

“In addition, rosacea often comes to the fore at this time in an unwanted way, resulting in flushing, redness, dilated blood vessels and a burning/stinging sensation.”

Ginni cited a Dutch study that found that nearly one in three women in or out of menopause suffered from dry, itchy or red skin as a result of “shaving, the weather, toiletries and emotions.”

The GP added that strong skin care products can actually aggravate sensitive skin.

She said, “You may need to temporarily reduce your vitamin C and alpha hydroxy acid intake until your skin calms down.”

Prescription Vitamin A, also known as Tretinol, can also irritate sensitive skin in rosacea. Therefore, it is best to opt for Retinal, a milder form of Vitamin A.

Ginni recommended microneedles, which stimulate the growth of collagen, elastin and new skin cells.

Microneedles, often smaller than a millimeter, pierce the outer surface of the skin, creating tiny wounds that send the skin’s internal care systems into overdrive.

She said, “You should continue to do everything you’ve been doing, but you can give your skincare a boost by adding some microneedling to it.

“Thanks to new technology, we can make microneedles from hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is hard enough to penetrate the skin, but then dissolves in the outer skin layer.

Hyaluronic acid has anti-aging properties in itself and ensures a controlled release of active ingredients in worn skin.
