Hayley says cucumbers contribute to healthy, shiny hair and even promote hair growth.

And with this salad essential costing just 89p at Aldi and Asda, it’s a very cost-effective way to care for your hair.

Hayley says: “Cucumber nourishes the hair. This ingredient has several hair benefits that lead to healthier and shinier hair.

“The vitamin K properties promote hair growth by improving scalp health and circulation and nourishing the hair follicles.

“This can also help regulate sebum production, allowing the scalp’s natural oils to nourish the hair strands, helping to maintain hair’s moisture levels.”

She added: “Besides hair health, cucumber can also make hair silky and shiny for a radiant finish.”

So the next time you snack on cucumber sticks and hummus, you can feel even less guilty about your snack choice.

Hayley revealed that it’s not just your hair that can benefit from cucumbers.

Here she discusses the seven other beauty benefits of cucumber…

SKIN SOFTENING

Hayley says: “Cucumber skincare products have several health and beauty properties that are beneficial for different skin types, including sensitive, inflamed skin.

“The soothing properties of the skin care ingredient, thanks in part to its high water content, are beneficial for people with sensitive skin.

“Cucumbers also contain antioxidants and are anti-inflammatory, soothing for redness or irritation.”

HYDRATING

“Cucumber has hydrating properties that give dry skin a moisture boost,” adds Hayley.

“Cucumber extract soothes the skin and strengthens its natural moisture barrier for smooth, soft and hydrated skin.”

FIND THE DIFFERENCE

Hayley continues: “Cucumber has an anti-inflammatory effect and reduces inflammation, redness and irritation caused by acne.

“The skin care ingredient also acts as a natural cleanser to prevent clogged pores by removing dead skin cells and oil build-up.

“This nourishes the skin and prevents future acne breakouts.”

REFRESH

“Cucumbers on the eyes are a real treat, and rightly so, as the ingredient helps reduce dark circles and brighten the skin,” says Hayley.

“The vitamin K in cucumber improves circulation and reduces puffiness, while vitamins C and E brighten the skin and tackle discoloration caused by dark circles.”

SAVIOR AGAINST SUNBURN

Hayley continues: “This skincare ingredient is also useful in treating sunburn.

“Not only does the cooling effect help with sunburn, but the anti-inflammatory properties also help reduce swelling and irritation and are great for relieving the pain of sun exposure.”

SKIN STRESS

Beauty expert Hayley says cucumbers are the “ideal ingredient” to combat free radicals because of their antioxidant properties.

Free radicals are unstable oxygen molecules that can cause stress on the skin, leading to problems such as fine lines and wrinkles, dark spots, and uneven skin tone.

She says: “Using products containing cucumber can help alleviate these skin conditions, resulting in a more radiant, youthful complexion.

“This makes cucumber a sought-after skin care ingredient to reduce signs of aging, as it tackles wrinkles and slows collagen breakdown.”

PASSED

Hayley concludes: “If you have trouble growing your nails and they break easily, adding cucumber to your diet or applying cucumber cuticle oil can solve this problem.

“Cucumbers are high in vitamin H, which improves nail thickness and promotes faster nail growth. This results in longer, stronger nails that are less likely to break.”
