Luckily, we don’t have to spend hours scrubbing to remove those pesky stains.
A cleaning expert has revealed that one product actually works wonders in removing stains with little effort.
And the best part is: you might already have it in your bathroom cabinet.
Deyan Dimitrov, CEO of Laundryheap, explained that shaving cream is the secret cleaning hero hiding in the closet.
All you need to do is apply a generous amount of shaving cream to the stain and then massage it into the fabric with a soft brush or even your hand.

Let it sit for an hour and then blot away the shaving foam with a soft, slightly damp, colourless cloth.
Or if you want to use shaving foam to remove stains from a garment, simply put it in the washing machine.
Deyan said: “Shaving foam isn’t just for your morning routine, it’s also an underrated cleaning product.
“The unique properties of shaving foam make it a ‘secret weapon’ for tackling all kinds of cleaning jobs around the house.
“Shaving cream is a lifesaver when it comes to removing stains from fabrics, your mattress, or otherwise.”
But shaving foam is not only good for removing stains from clothing and mattresses. It also works great as a cleaner for sneakers.
Deyan adds: “Shaving cream makes your shoes look like new again, whether they are leather or canvas.
“This trick works especially well with white shoes.”
To get your shoes sparkling white again, remove the laces and apply shaving cream.
Let it soak in for a few minutes and then massage it into the leather or canvas with a soft brush, such as an old toothbrush.

Then all you have to do is wipe away the shaving cream with a soft cloth. Or you can put them in the washing machine afterwards for a thorough cleaning.
And it’s good news for parents, because shaving cream can even painlessly remove chewing gum from fabrics and surfaces.
This is because the “combination of surfactants and emollients softens the gum, allowing you to gently scrape it away.”
Tips to remove ‘summer stains’
A laundry expert has revealed how to keep your clothes clean after enjoying some fun in the sun
Alex Econs is an expert in cleaning clothes and the founder of Print Icon and he gave his advice on removing ‘summer stains’ such as grass and sweat.
He recommended using the following:
- Sunburn stains – use dish soap or laundry detergent for sunburn
- Sweat stains on hats – machine washable with other small, light items such as socks, underwear or t-shirts
- Clothes that have turned yellow – try a natural vinegar solution
- Green grass stains – Rubbing alcohol acts as a solvent for this pigmentation and removes the worst stains.
- Sand stains – wash items in fabric softener before leaving
- Ice Cold Treats – “Stains from natural juices should simply disappear by soaking them in cold water with a squeeze of lemon juice
Apply the cream to the skin again and let it sit for a few minutes. Then gently scrape it off with a blunt knife or credit card. Then wipe it off with a damp cloth.
Experts also revealed that shaving cream can be used to remove mold stains in the shower.
Deyan said: “Mold stains on shower curtains and tiles can be tricky to remove.
“But the surfactants in shaving cream help break it down, making cleanup a breeze.”
After applying the foam to the stains, let it sit for a while and scrub it with a brush. Then rinse it thoroughly with water.
