I’m a dermatologist – a £5 Boots purchase works to smooth out stretch marks
A DERMATOLOGIST presented the best products to combat stretch marks.
According to the expert, two skin care products are enough to smooth out stretched skin.
In her viral videoTikTok user Dr Adel (@aamnaadel) explained why two commonly used products are more effective than Bio-Oil at softening stretch marks.
Her first recommendation was that the TikToker advised her audience to purchase a retinol cream.
While tretinoin is only available by prescription, she explained that the over-the-counter alternative can be just as effective in treating stretch marks.
Dr. Adel recommended using the product to create a radiant complexion and soften stretch marks.
She stressed that the treatment is not suitable for pregnant women.
For those who can safely use retinol, she pointed out that there are “tons of options on the market.”
You can take a 30 ml Retinol Night Cream for just £7 at Boots.
Her second product suggestion was from Dr. Adel, who advised applying hyaluronic acid to the affected area.
She explained that both the serum and cream versions of the product are effective.
The TikToker stressed how important it is to use the product every day.
You can take a 30 ml Hyaluronic acid serum at Boots for just £5.
Dr. Adel previously shared her own pregnancy experience and how it affected her body.
“I was nine months pregnant and I didn’t have any stretch marks,” she said.
“Partly because I knew from within what I had to do.”
Her followers shared their thoughts about her advice in the comments.
The Importance of Sunscreen in Your Skin Care Routine
Dermatologist and skin care enthusiast Andrea Suarez — better known as Dr. Dray — shared why you should wear sunscreen.
The one thing you can do to make the biggest difference – and this applies to all ages – is to protect your skin from the sun, Andrea emphasizes.
“The vast majority of external aging is caused by ultraviolet exposure,” she continued, and not by “not using a nice serum or not putting 90 different things on your face every day.”
“If you’re not doing this in your twenties, start now.”
But she said that wearing sunscreen alone doesn’t go far enough. Andrea urged that you also wear sun-protective clothing, such as wide-brimmed hats and long sleeves, and that you don’t stay in the sun for too long.
If you do this throughout your life – and all year round, not just in the summer or on sunny days – “the visible signs of sun-induced skin aging will diminish,” says Andrea.
These are wrinkles, impure pigmentation and sagging skin.
“I do have stretch marks. I don’t care. I think they look like mermaid scales,” wrote one viewer.
“Of course I’m 19 and I have stretch marks, but I like them. They’re on my upper/outer thighs.”
“The second one worked so well,” commented another impressed follower.
“I’m so white that they don’t even stand out anymore. It’s the only time being honest is a blessing,” said a third person.
“You gave me hope for this. Thank God I prevented it before pregnancy,” one TikTok user wrote.
