I’m a gypsy and sleep on plastic – it feels like a crispy packet, but I hate stains
A GYPSY woman has revealed she has made her home ready for autumn and is sleeping on plastic because she can’t stand stains.
Dominique Lee, a self-described “gypsy woman” living in Britain, confessed that she washes and changes her bed linen twice a week and doesn’t care if the plastic on her mattress feels like a crispy packet.
Taking to social media, the mother of four gave her followers a glimpse into her home, leaving many with their mouths open.
With autumn finally here, the proud gypsy has given her chalet home a mega makeover and kitted out with bargains from Asda and Primark to mark the occasion.
Not only does she have orange mats on the floor in her kitchen, but she also stocks tons of pumpkins and even Halloween-themed glassware.
As she prepared to tidy up her house, Dominique said, “Come and tidy up with me for the evening.”

The busy mum then explained: “I’ve made lamb and potato curry for tea so I’ve got to wash all that up and I’ve got to wash the kids and put them to bed but first I’ve got to put on my clean bedding.”
The content creator explained that she grabbed her beautiful comforter set, which functions deer, owls and rabbits, from Asda.
She then talked about her gypsy tradition, as she confessed: “Yes, I do sleep with plastic on my mattresses.
“It’s still been on since we got the chalet, I’ve done that with every caravan I’ve ever owned, I always leave the plastic on.
“I know it’s like sleeping on a chip packet, but I just can’t stand stains or anything.”
After her bedding was changed and her bed freshly made, she wiped down her stove, adding, “It’s just been tidied, washed and bleached.”
To really get into the fall spirit, Dominique then lit her new pumpkin spice candles, adding, “I love a candle. I think it’s beautiful, especially in the fall/winter time. Very cozy looking.
“I got this from Primark and it fits the kind of theme I’ve put into it this year.”
A closer look at gypsy traditions
HERE we look at some of the traditions that many Gypsies follow…
Family-oriented life: The family is the cornerstone of Roma life, with extended families often living close together. Elders are highly respected and play a crucial role in decision-making and maintaining cultural traditions.
Nomadic heritage: Many Gypsy communities lead a semi-nomadic lifestyle, moving seasonally to find work or attend cultural gatherings. This tradition is deeply rooted in their history and identity.
Distinctive decor: Romani homes, whether caravans or permanent residences, are often cheerfully decorated with vibrant colors and intricate patterns. These decorations reflect their rich cultural heritage and love for beauty.
Communal meetings: Social gatherings are an important part of Gypsy life. Celebrations, such as weddings and religious festivals, are grand affairs involving music, dancing and feasting, often spanning several days.
Spiritual practices: Many Gypsy families integrate a mix of Christian beliefs and traditional spiritual practices. Homes may contain religious icons and amulets that are believed to provide protection and bring good luck.
Craftsmanship and artistry: Roma are known for their craftsmanship, especially in metalworking, woodworking and textiles. These skills are often passed down from generation to generation and are a source of both pride and livelihood.
Hospitality: Hospitality is a valued tradition. Guests are treated with great respect and generosity and are often offered the finest food and drinks as a sign of honor and goodwill.
Share stories: Storytelling is an essential part of Roma culture, preserving history, morals and lessons for generations. Elderly people often tell stories that are both entertaining and educational.
And to ensure her beautiful home smells fresh, she then used the Febreze Cozy Season air mist from the Mrs Hinch range, which she confirmed she bought from Home Bargains, for just £1.99.
Delighted with her cheap find, she beamed: “And I absolutely love this air freshener.”
