I’m a hairdresser and it’s controversial, but I hate the Dyson Airwrap

IT was a must-have product last Christmas and is used daily by influencers trying to get a big, bouncy hairdryer.

But one hairdresser has sparked controversy with her ‘unpopular opinion’ as she insisted the Dyson Airwrap is not what it is cracked up to be.

Claire took to her TikTok page to share her list, starting with the provocative statement: “The Dyson Airwrap is s**t.

“I’m sorry, I’m not sorry!

“A £19.99 Babyliss hot brush can do the same.”

And the Airwrap wasn’t the only product Claire targeted on TikTok.

“Olaplex is shit,” she added, without going into further detail.

She also emphasized that the “hair gummies” and “horse shampoo” that so often appear on social media “don’t work.”

And he went on to insist that Cloud Nine hair straighteners are “better” than cult favorite GHD”.

However, she doesn’t consider curling with straighteners as a “curly blow-dry”, and warned against using too much purple shampoo if you’re blonde as it can “dull your hair”.

When it comes to what she would recommend, Claire said that some cheap shampoos – often offered by other hairdressers – are “actually good for your hair.”

“They’re not all bad!” she said, before adding the caveat: “Just some.”

Claire also revealed that she won’t use a permanent tint if her clients aren’t grey, adding: “A semi is so much easier to lift if the client ever wants to go lighter.”

And for those who go to her when they need an issue from a previous salon corrected or resolved, Claire does not accept “b**ching” or “slander” from other hairdressers, and emphasizes that it is “not okay”.

She concluded her roundup of unpopular opinions by revealing that the only way to repair damaged hair is to cut off the affected part.

“A conditioning mask will not repair your hair if your hair is stretchy/contains gum,” she stated.

Despite Claire listing her thoughts as unpopular opinions, there were a large number of people in the comments section who agreed with her.

“People are sleeping FR on that hot brush,” one person wrote.

“My Babyliss hotbrush and Cloud Nine hair straighteners are really getting buried with me,” another added.

“I love my Babyliss hot brush,” a third commented.

As someone else wrote: “Dyson Airwrap is such a waste of money, I sold mine.

“Only good if you have hair extensions.”

“I’m a 36 year old hairdresser and I think exactly the same,” said another.

However, there were those who disagreed with Claire, with one person writing: “But the babyliss damage will get you. Dyson for life!”

“I lost myself at hair gummies and horse shampoo not working,” sighed another.

“I swear by it!”

“Olaplex saved my hair!” a third persisted.
