That’s why many homeowners want to make sure their yard is in tip-top shape. That means, among other things, scrubbing the tiles on their patio.

However, not every cleaning agent is suitable for use on patio tiles and some solutions can even cause serious damage.

Andy Mclaughlin, Landscape Architecture Specialist at RF paving revealed a product that should be “completely avoided”: Pink Stuff Cream Cleaner, as this causes “irreparable stains”.

He said: “On TikTok, which has 84.3 million posts about cleaning patios, users have been sharing their unique paving cleaning methods to tackle grime using products like the Pink Stuff Cream Cleaner.

“But before you reach for your favorite surface cleaner, it’s important to know what type of paving you want to clean and what substance you want to remove from the surface.”

Andy said the “perfect” method for cleaning your patio tiles is to use a pressure washer.

For those who don’t have a pressure washer, the paving expert suggested that they could also use a paving stone cleaner, which would remove any organic buildup on the tiles.

And if you’re looking for a cheap solution, you can also just use white vinegar, a must-have cleaning agent in your kitchen cupboards.

To use this method, simply make a solution of half white vinegar and half water.

Then apply the solution to the paving and wait 20 minutes.

The acidity of the vinegar will help remove dirt and stains, while the water will dilute the acidity so the tiles aren’t damaged.

White vinegar can also be used for a variety of other household chores, such as removing mold and killing weeds.

If you don’t have them in your kitchen cupboard, you can buy them from Tesco for 35p.

After cleaning your patio, wait a day or two for it to dry. Then spread sand over the paving.
