The budget-friendly beauty buy – which retails for £6 at Boots – ‘can support circulation, which can prevent hair follicles from losing blood supply, dying and leading to hair loss’, Healthline reports this.

In addition to stimulating hair growth, some use the affordable oil to prevent premature graying and even tackle dandruff.

According to professionals, the TikTok-hyped sensation can “benefit nerve tissue by increasing nerve growth factor” – which can promote hair growth and skin health.

While rosemary oil may be all the rage right now, Dr. Neera, a Harvard-trained dermatologist, recently busted the cult’s favorite product myth.

Dropping knowledge bombs on her pagesaid the dark-haired beauty, “I hate to break it to you, but rosemary oil does nothing for your hair growth.

“I’m a hair loss dermatologist and if you’re looking for a Minoxidil alternative for thinning hair, try pumpkin seed oil.”

The whiz, who shared earlier a ”push-up” hack for sunken eyesclaimed that this seed oil ”can help lower DHT naturally and is anti-inflammatory”.

Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) is a sex hormone that can contribute to hair loss, especially in people with a genetic predisposition to male pattern baldness.

While there are numerous treatments available to address this, beauty enthusiasts should also consume foods rich in lycopene, such as tomatoes, watermelons, carrots and mangoes, which can help block DHT production.

Other foods to look out for include berries, liver, legumes, oily fish and bananas. These are all rich in biotin and can condition the scalp and promote strong locks.

Transform your look: hairstyles to slim your face

It’s not just the pros who are raving about the £3.99 bargain you can get from Amazon – multiple studies have found that pumpkin seed oil can reduce DHT levels, resulting in increased hair growth.

In addition to inhibiting DHT production, Wimpole Clinic reports this“There is evidence that linoleic acid can activate growth factors in the hair follicles, allowing cells to multiply rapidly and promoting hair growth.”

The 4 phases of the hair growth cycle

Hair experts at Philip Kingsley shared the four phases of the hair growth cycle: Anagen, Catagen, Telogen and Exogen

Anagen phase: Also known as the ‘growth phase’ or ‘active phase’, this is the phase when the cells in the root of your hair divide most quickly to form more new hair.

During the anagen phase, hair grows about half an inch per month [about six inches a year]and faster in summer than in winter.

This phase of the hair growth cycle lasts an average of three to five years.

Catagen phase: After the anagen phase, your hair cycle enters a short transition phase known as the catagen phase. This phase signals the end of active hair growth and cuts off individual hairs from the blood supply and from the cells that produce new hair.

About three percent of all hairs are in this stage at any time and it lasts about 10 days.

Telogen phase: The third phase of your natural hair growth cycle is the telogen phase, a resting period during which the strands remain in their follicles but do not actively grow.

It is estimated that 10-15 percent of your hair is in the telogen phase at any given time.

The telogen phase lasts about three months or 100 days.

Exogenous phase: The final stage of the hair growth cycle, when individual hair strands release from their follicles and fall out.

Now the whole process starts again.

“One animal study found that applying topical pumpkin seed oil can increase hair growth in just three weeks.”

Plus, not only does the oil turn you into a real-life Rapunzel, but the hair care is also said to “preserve hair color” and “keep your scalp healthy.”

However, if you’re concerned about your strands becoming greasy from the oil, Dr. Neera to use pumpkin seed oil capsules instead.

The Boston-based professional shared the information on social media, adding in the caption: “Stop wasting money on rosemary oil for hair growth.”

Hundreds flocked to the comments to share their thoughts, with one beauty lover praising her amazing results.

”I added pumpkin seed oil and black currant oil supplements. Both me and my husband are growing new hair like crazy.”

A second chimed in, writing: “I once went to a top dermatologist in New York, he also suggested pumpkin seed oil.”

A third had a less fortunate experience, claiming it left them with spots.

“My hair grew so great with pumpkin seed oil, but it seriously ruined me.”
