But when it comes to a man asking a woman out, she expects him to foot the bill himself when they meet.
She recently went through an uncomfortable experience and admits she was stunned by her suitor’s actions.
The mother-of-two, from Edinburgh, said: “It doesn’t matter how much money someone has.
“But when it comes to a first date, I hate it when a guy wants half a bill.
‘I always think a man should pay.
“If he wants to take you out, he has to treat you.
“A few months ago I had a disaster.
‘He was a teacher and I liked that he was normal.
“We had pizza and the meal cost £30 and he asked if I had any change so we could take half.
“I said ‘what?’ It’s like a bucket of water has been dumped on my head.
“Little things like that make me sick.”
Megan added: “I was shocked and I think it’s standard to pay on the first date.
“I said ‘no, you asked me on a date’ and it was very awkward.
“I haven’t spoken to him again, but he was hammering on my phone.
“He asked if I wanted to go out again.”
