Luckily, one teacher has made the decision a lot easier: he revealed which gifts they don’t want to receive.

Lauren Paige, a kindergarten teacher from the US, posted on social media revealing the “worst gifts to give teachers” that left many people completely shocked.

Lauren confirmed that while she and many of her teacher friends don’t want alcohol, they also can’t stand the faces of teachers.

Lauren explained that you shouldn’t give a teacher alcohol because “a lot of us don’t drink.”

When it comes to mugs, Lauren, who teaches preschool-aged children, advises parents to avoid giving them as gifts. She adds, “We get these a lot.”

She also explained that gym memberships should no longer be possible, because she asked, “Who would do something like that?”

Finally, Lauren explained that you should never give a teacher a “blank Christmas card,” as she put it: “We prefer handwritten notes.”

But Lauren explained that teacher gifts don’t have to be expensive, so you don’t have to spend a fortune.

Instead, Lauren advised, “The best gift to give is a handwritten note of appreciation and support.”

The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @toddler thoughtsclearly caused quite a stir, as it quickly received over 1,000 likes.

Need to buy a gift for a teacher?

IF you’re wondering whether to get your child’s teacher an end of year gift, look no further…

With the summer holidays fast approaching, Sarah Bull, Senior Digital Writer at Fabulous and mother of two, explains whether you should feel obliged to buy your children’s teachers a gift to celebrate the end of the school year.

Sarah said: “It can be quite a challenge to keep the children entertained during the six weeks they are out of school.

But before the school year is over, parents across the country are also trying to budget for gifts for their children’s teachers.

“When you have to buy in teachers, teaching assistants, special educational needs specialists and other beloved staff members, it can be an expensive proposition.

“And while many schools actively discourage parents from spending their money on end-of-year gifts for teachers, I consider it an obligation.

“I know how difficult my children can be at home and their teachers have to watch them most of the day. Don’t they deserve some appreciation?

“I also don’t want my children to feel left out when their friends arrive at school with presents for their teachers.

“While some parents go all out with gifts, with alcohol and flowers being popular choices, I will do my best to stick to the £5 for each of the four staff members I buy something for.

“And with some fantastic options in stores like Poundland, Home Bargains and B&M, it should be easy for me to stay within my budget.”

Another added: “Or be grateful for whatever they can give, because it’s the act of giving that matters.”

A third commented: “I can’t believe all these young adults are saying what presents they should get… How about NOTHING!!”

As a teacher I would love any of these things

Meanwhile, a teacher wrote: “Speak for yourself girl. I appreciate all the gifts they give me.

“It means they were thinking of me and cared enough to give me something.”

Or be grateful for whatever they can give, because it is the act of giving that matters.

Another joined in the conversation: “As a teacher I would love them all.”

While a third beamed: “Speak for yourself!! Bring on the wine!”

And that’s not all, another social media user gave the following advice: “Be grateful.

“Some kids, especially the younger ones, are super excited to pick out mugs for the teachers.”
