And while we all like to think that getting a dog is easy, it’s not. Veterinarian Amir explains that with some breeds, it’s harder than with others.

The expert shared a list of five dog breeds he wouldn’t recommend, adding: “The last one is controversial!! But I think it deserves to be on this list.”

The first breed to be shortlisted was the Dogo Argentina breed – a large dog of the mastiff type.

This dog was bred for hunting, which means it needs a lot of training and a lot of time outside to burn off energy. Not ideal for a first-time dog owner.

Next On top of that came the German Shepherd Dog, another large puppy originally bred to herd sheep.

These dogs also require a lot of stimulation and are known to become anxious and reactive, as veterinarian Alex revealed.

Amir also said that Akitas can be problematic for people new to dogs, and advocate Gerald Noonan agrees.

“Their large size, their protective instinct, their difficulties in dealing with other dogs, their strong will and their independent and stubborn character make the Akita a dangerous breed of dog,” the lawyer said.

Dalmatians were also on Amir’s list of banned breeds.

Again, these large dogs were bred for hunting and so can exhibit behavioral problems if not trained by a knowledgeable owner.

Finally, Amir said the last “controversial” dog breed to make the list was the Border Collie.

When asked why they were on the e-list, the vet said, “They are a working breed! Very intelligent and energetic.

“Many people do not understand this and are therefore unable to provide good care.”

The clip has gone viral on the vet’s TikTok account @amirthevet with more than 265,000 views and 5,000 likes.
