Rubbing alcohol is a classic kitchen cupboard tool for emergencies that require a strong disinfectant.

But it turns out you can also spray the product on your weeds, which will draw moisture from the plants.

Mix two tablespoons of alcohol with a liter of water and cover the unwanted plants with it.

Without their water, the weeds would not survive and your garden would continue to look beautiful.

The clever trick was shared in House Beautifulalong with several other household products you can use to get rid of those pesky plants.

Vinegar and salt are popular toppings for chips, but they can also help keep your outdoor living space weed-free.

Spraying undiluted vinegar on the vines growing in the cracks of your paving and driveway will change the soil and cut off the vines.

However, do not use it on large lawns so that the soil remains healthy for your desired plants.

Salt has been used as a handy herbicide for hundreds of years. Dissolve three parts salt in one part water, let it sit for 10 minutes, then spray it on the weeds.

Like vinegar, you should not use this remedy directly on the flowers.

Continuing the kitchen theme, baking soda also dries out plants and can ultimately kill weeds if you sprinkle it on weeds growing through the cracks in the sidewalk.

And if you don’t want to spend money on this annoying task, simply putting the kettle on can help.

By carefully pouring boiling water over the area you want to kill, you can destroy the growing weeds.

Other garden enthusiasts shared their favorite trick for removing weeds and moss from a stone patio.

One of them shared his advice on social media, saying that sprinkling non-biological washing powder over the affected areas would quickly kill the plants.

And since it’s available at Sainsbury’s for just £3, this helpful tip doesn’t have to be expensive.

Someone suggested, “Washing powder. You’d be amazed at the transformation.

“You can then sweep new sand into the seams.”

A second advised: “It sounds strange, to be honest, but cover it with cheap washing powder and brush it around.

“It kills moss and everything quickly, and then the rain washes it off.”

A third recommendation: “Biological washing powder works well.

“Sprinkle it on and let it rain or spray some water on it and it will be gone in 15 minutes.”
