I’m almost 60, but people think my 34-year-old daughter and I are sisters
A WOMAN who is nearly 60 but is constantly mistaken for looking decades younger has shared her secrets to eternal youth.
Livi Di Benedetto, who is often mistaken for her 34-year-old daughter Kimberly’s sister, credits her youthful appearance to her skin care routine.
Even when Kimberly was growing up, some of her friends didn’t believe Livi was really her mother because she looked so young.
But Livi, who has been accused several times of lying about her age, enjoys the compliments she receives.
“Everywhere my mom goes, she gets comments about how young she looks,” Kimberly said.
“When people find out her age, they say things like, ‘I can’t believe you’re 56, you look 40.’
“I can’t keep track of how many times people mistake my mother for my sister.
“Just a week ago we were shopping at Lululemon and got to talking to the salesperson.
“When my mother mentioned her age, he said, ‘There’s no way you’re nearly 60.’
“I’m still convinced he didn’t believe her.”
Livi, originally from Australia, values a healthy, active lifestyle and follows a strict skin care regime.
She has been an avid gym goer for decades and at the age of 52, she entered her first bodybuilding competition.
With more muscle, Livi feels “incredible” and says strength training has helped her post-menopause.
“For me it’s important to lift weights,” Livi said What is there to do?
“After menopause, weight loss helped me look younger and stay strong.
“I also walk 10,000 to 13,000 steps a day and eat a plant-based diet with lots of vegetables.
Livi’s Skincare Secrets
Livi revealed the homemade skincare mixture she swears by to maintain a youthful complexion. She swears by two essential oils to enhance her look.
- Jojoba oil: Promotes collagen synthesis and maintains skin elasticity.
- Frankincense oil: Helps regenerate the skin and soften wrinkles and fine lines.
“I drink three liters of water every day and always use natural products for my face.
“I make my own skin care with jojoba, frankincense and other essential oils.
“I also like to keep up with fashion, although I don’t try to dress like a teenager.
“I love sportswear, and that’s what you’ll find in my closet.”
She said participating in a bodybuilding competition made her “more motivated than ever.”
“I have more muscle now and feel great,” said Livi.
“I believe that when you feel confident and happy in your body, it will radiate into your outer beauty.”
Kimberly, owner of an online hair business called Lusta Hair, has enormous admiration for her mother Livi.
The duo have a strong bond and are each other’s best friends.
“I really admire my mom. She had me when she was 21 and growing up, she was my best friend,” Kimberly said.
“Not only was she kind and caring, she was also fun.
“When I turned 18, she would sometimes go to nightclubs with me.
“We spent the night dancing and fooling around. I cherish those memories.”
Livi hopes to inspire other women with her active lifestyle.
“It feels good not to look as old as you do. I look younger than I am, so I hope I look younger when I’m older,” she said.
“My advice to women my age is: be yourself.
“Move your body every day, find your own personal style that makes you feel confident, and experiment with a skincare regimen that works for you.
“By working on yourself, you learn that you are worthwhile and that promotes self-love and self-confidence.”
