I’m an Aldi shopper but I tried M&S for a week, I was so surprised

A loyal Aldi customer has revealed what happened after she swapped the budget supermarket for M&S for her weekly shop.

She and her partner Seb decided to make the switch after hearing that M&S had reasonable prices.

“We normally shop at Aldi but I’ve recently heard really good things about M&S and our local M&S has opened a new food court so we thought why not give it a try,” she wrote in her caption.

Holli explained that she normally spends around £60-£70 a week on groceries for two at Aldi.

The TikToker explained that one of the main reasons she wanted to try M&S was the fresh fruit and veg aisle.

She said: “I find that Aldi fruit and veg goes off halfway through the week, even if I wash them and keep them in the fridge.

“I’m going to try the M&S fruit and vegetables and see if they last longer.”

As well as the fruit and veg, Holli and Seb also stocked up on meals for the week, including an £8 stir fry deal for two people and a £12 deal that got them two pizzas and two sides.

Holli revealed the grand total, saying: “The total groceries came to £58, we were so surprised and will definitely be back.”

Other users were quick to share their opinions about the supermarket, with many admitting they had made the switch.

Someone wrote: “We like it so much we spend £120 on the weekly shop for our family, including meat, and sometimes it lasts longer.”

“M&S food isn’t as expensive as people think,” added another, while a third wrote: “The quality of M&S is worth it.”

Holli responded adding, “100% agree! I feel like there’s a stigma around it being expensive but it really isn’t.

“Our £58 included 2 meals for £20 so it could have been even cheaper if we had tried x”

Another agreed, adding: “Am I the only one who doesn’t have a problem with Aldi products? Most of it is local but I live in Scotland so it might be different here 🤷‍♂️”

A third claimed they were not impressed with the value for money.

She wrote: “I tried this and the prices were great until I got to the meat section 😭 I ended up aborting the mission and going back to Tesco!”

Holli later shared a follow-up video in which she shared how long her fresh strawberries from M&S last.

She explained: “Technically they were due to expire on August 30th, today is September 4th and they literally look perfect.

“I squeeze them, but they’re not soft at all.”
