The behind-the-scenes video is based on a survey of 2,000 adults, which found that 40 percent of them want to improve their lunch breaks, from the things they do on their lunch break to the food they eat.

The research and audio fragments were commissioned by Birds Eye is celebrating the launch of its three new Steamfresh Meals: microwaveable pasta and vegetable meals for one person.

Only one in ten people consider lunch to be their favorite meal of the day. The average adult only really enjoys what they eat three days a week.

While only nine percent would describe their middle meal as ‘exciting’.

Staples like sandwiches, soup and salad are reportedly the most popular weekday lunch choices.

When choosing something, taste is considered most important (31 percent), followed by how easy it is to prepare (22 percent) and how nutritious it is (15 percent).

But four out of ten people prefer a hot lunch.

Nearly half (48 percent) of adults prefer to have someone else prepare their meal for them.

About 60 percent claim that it always tastes better when made by someone else.

And 28 percent are simply too lazy to do it themselves, according to data from OnePoll.

It also turned out that adults spend less than 15 minutes preparing their meal when working from home.

But they don’t have much time to eat: on average, they take less than half an hour a day to take a break.

In addition to eating, they also spend time during their breaks scrolling through social media (30 percent) or eating al-desko (27 percent).

Sophie Simms from Birds Eye Steamfresh said: “Let’s face it, lunch isn’t always the most inspiring meal.

“We really want to bring back the love for lunch, no matter how long it takes us.

“Our research has shown that people really want some variety in their lunch breaks when working from home, and we want to show how this can be done.

“We created Steamfresh Seductions to brighten up lunchtime alongside our new meals, which lock in flavor and nutrients through the current of steaming.

“And William was just the perfect person to tell these steamy short stories and of course make sure we ate that tagliatelle the right way.”
