Dr Williams, a paediatrician and father of five from Utah, US, said people called him a ‘magician’ because of his trick that provides ‘instant relief from toddler tantrums’.

He claimed it’s “simpler than you think” and “will literally change your life.”

The clever dad wrote on social media that his trick is the “easiest and fastest” way to calm an angry child.

He claimed: “I use this on toddlers in my own clinic and their parents think I’m a magician, but actually it’s quite simple.

“When a toddler is upset and his feelings and emotions are getting bigger and bigger, I want you to whisper.”

Dr. Williams said that while he “doesn’t know” why whispering works, he did claim that it “quickly takes children out of their emotions.”

He continued: “I think something registers in their cerebellum that says, ‘Hey, we’re not in crisis mode here, everything is OK.

“I want you to let them know in a calm whisper that you are listening and understanding.

“And remember that tantrums at this age are a developmental process. Children are learning how to deal with new, big emotions without having the language to communicate what they want.”

Dr. Williams explained that while it can be frustrating to deal with tantrums, it’s important for parents to see and understand their child’s emotions.

The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @tiktokkiddochas clearly caused quite a stir, as the video has already been viewed 774,500 times.

What is a tantrum?
