I’m an interior expert – 90p article is a game changer for pillows and improves sleep
AS summer draws to a close, most of us are already busy preparing for the fall and winter months.
And now that the colder days and darker nights are slowly approaching, it’s a good time to get our winter duvets and pillows ready.
Because what could be nicer than crawling under a nice thick duvet when it’s chilly outside?
But as we replace our summer duvets and pillows, we may notice that our winter duvets and pillows have become a little flat and limp from months of disuse.
Luckily, there is an expert ready to help us breathe new life into our favorite pillows and duvets.
Rhiannon Masters, interior designer and head of brand at Piglet in Bed, says you only need one product to get the best results.
And the best part is, you can buy it for just 90p.
Putting a tennis ball in a sock and putting it in the washing machine with your pillows and duvet will make them nice and soft and comfortable again.

And you can reuse the tennis ball as often as you want, because it does not get damaged.
This trick will save you a lot of money in the long run and you won’t have to buy new pillows every few months.
In addition, it improves the quality of your sleep.
Rhiannon says: “This trick is super simple and affordable and could transform your sleep.
“All you need is a tennis ball and a sock, that’s it!
“You can buy a tennis ball for just 90p.
“If you have that, put it in an old sock and tie the top.
All you then need to do is throw it in the dryer along with any pillows and run the normal program on medium temperature.
“The ball bounces in the drum and knocks the bumps out of your pillow, so to speak, returning them to their old, airy glory.”
Rhiannon also shared two tricks to help you make your pillows last longer so you can enjoy them to the fullest.
All you need to do is shake them by hand every day and turn them every few weeks.
She said: “To keep your pillows looking and feeling their best as possible like they do in a hotel, you should fluff them every day.
GOOD NIGHT
FOR anyone who sweats at night, Rhiannon has the perfect solution to keep your pillows in better condition for longer.
If you notice that your cushions have become lumpy after the summer, the interior expert advises investing in cushions filled with wool.
She explains: “Pillows filled with down or synthetic fibers can often become lumpy due to moisture from exposure to sweat over a long period of time.
“However, investing in pillows filled with natural fibers like merino wool will help regulate your temperature while you sleep.
“This is due to the natural thermoregulatory properties of the fibers, which keep you cool in the heat and warm in the cold.
“If you sweat less at night, your pillows will stay moisture-free and less likely to become lumpy.”
While this may sound like an extra chore, it doesn’t have to be. You can easily incorporate it into your morning bed-making routine.
“Simply hold both sides of your pillow and alternate between pressing in and out. Make sure to turn the pillow over and repeat on the other side.
“Do this for about 30 seconds to give your pillows their bounce!”
Rhiannon adds: “If you sleep with multiple pillows on your bed, it’s best to alternate between them by choosing which side you sleep on and which side of the pillow you sleep on. This will help them stay soft for longer.
If you do this a few times a month, the weight resting on it will be better distributed.
“This minimizes damage to the filling and extends its lifespan.”
