I’m ashamed at the doctor because my mother named me after a FRUIT

A woman with an ’embarrassing’ name has revealed she hates introducing herself to strangers – and even uses a nickname to avoid awkward situations.

Choosing a name for your little one can be a daunting task. Some parents pass their baby names on to the next generation, while others look elsewhere for inspiration.

That last one is exactly what one mother decided to do when naming her daughter. Instead of looking to her favorite TV show or book for inspiration, she found inspiration in her favorite fruit.

On Reddit, the daughter said, “My name is Apple.

”I only hate my name when I’m around strangers because they stare at me (for example: in the doctor’s waiting room) or when I introduce myself because people always think I’m lying.

”In high school everyone called me Apps and I loved it.”

After hearing her daughter complain about the unusual choice, the mother claimed that Apple was a popular name in her home country, Laos.

However, the daughter continued: “I find it strange that I am in the US so it was translated.

“The only other person I know named Apple is Gwyneth Paltrow’s daughter.”

But it’s not just the Redditor (or the actress’s 20-year-old daughter) who has an unusual name: there were plenty of social media users among others who could identify with Apple.

For example, one person revealed his name, which was that of an animal, and even that of a famous American golfer.

The person responded to her name by saying, “My name is Tiger, imagine my problems.

“Be glad you’re just an Apple, stay that way.”

Another joked: “They’re probably wondering why your name doesn’t keep the doctors away.”

A third user joined in the conversation: “I love the name Apple! Apps are perfect too.

“My cousin’s stepsister has the same name and probably looked the same growing up, but I would definitely name a child that.”

A Redditor who used his own unusual nickname added: “I used to hate my name so much that I was determined to change it as soon as I turned 18.

“My name is Rave. I love it now and am so glad I didn’t change it.”

How do you change your name through a Deed Poll?

You don’t have to go through a legal process to change your name, but you may need a marriage certificate to change the last name on documents like your driver’s license and passport.

To obtain a deed of transfer, you can either draw up a ‘non-registered’ deed of transfer yourself or apply for a ‘registered’ deed of transfer.

For the first case, you must be 16 years or older and you will need two witnesses who are over 18 years old to sign the deed of transfer.

You can immediately use your signed deed of name change as proof of your new name.

For a ‘registered’ deed of partition you will need to apply to the Royal Courts of Justice. The fee for this is £49.32.

This comes after a Jurassic World superfan was criticised for giving her children ‘crazy’ names inspired by dinosaurs.

The mother’s friend said that after watching the cult classic, the woman and her partner named their firstborn Trexton, inspired by T-Rex.

“Her daughter has a relatively normal name, but to continue the theme, she named her youngest son Roarex.
