I’m being accused of lying about my age – and people are confusing me with my 34-year-old daughter’s sister

A bodybuilder who is approaching 60 claims she is often accused of lying about her age and is mistaken for her 34-year-old daughter’s sister.

Livi Di Benedetto, 56, from Adelaide, Australia, says she often gets comments about her youthful appearance, especially when she’s out with her daughter Kimberly.

Her daughter even claims that her friends didn’t believe Livi was her mother when she was growing up because she looked so young.

And now Kimberly says she “can’t keep track” of how many times people mistake her mother for her sister.

She adds: ‘JJust last week we were shopping at Lululemon and got to talking to the salesperson.

“When my mother mentioned her age, he said, ‘There’s no way you’re nearly 60.’”

“I’m still convinced he didn’t believe her.”

According to Livi, a healthy lifestyle is the secret to her youthful appearance.

At 52, she also began competing in bodybuilding. She credits strength training with helping her post-menopause.

“After menopause, weight training helped me look younger and stay strong,” she says.

‘I also walk 10,000 to 13,000 steps a day and eat a plant-based diet, with lots of vegetables. I drink three liters of water a day and always use natural products for my face.

‘I make my own skin care products with jojoba, frankincense and other essential oils.’

Livi says: ‘I believe that when you feel confident and happy in your body, it will also be reflected in your outer beauty.’

Kimberly has “real admiration” for her mother and says the bodybuilder was her “best friend” growing up.

“She was not only kind and caring, she was also fun,” says the 34-year-old. “When I turned 18, she would sometimes go to nightclubs with me.

“We spent the night dancing and fooling around. I cherish those memories.”

Now Livi hopes to inspire other women to stay fit and youthful, even as they get older.

“It feels good not to look your age,” she says. “I look younger than I am, so hopefully when I’m older I’ll still look younger.”

My advice to women my age is: be yourself.

‘Exercise every day, find your own personal style that makes you feel confident, and experiment with a skincare regimen that works for you.’
