I’m being trolled for my completely colorless bedroom – and for good reason
A man went viral on the internet for his colorless bedroom, but he explains the reason behind it.
From the simple white walls to the gray carpet, there are no color accents to be found in his space.
In his viral videoTikTok user Anto (@antoshurigin) gave his followers a virtual tour of his bedroom.
He explained that people often called him crazy because of his interior design style, but he also talked about why he chose that style.
“I live in a real black and white filter,” the TikToker joked in the caption of his clamp.
He said he chooses a simple interior because he has chromophobia.
Anto described the condition as “basically a fear or aversion to color.”
“I personally really don’t like it and it makes me feel uncomfortable,” he added.
The experts of the Cleveland Clinic explained the condition in more detail.
“Most people with this disorder have an extreme aversion to one or two colors in particular — or they are only afraid of bright colors,” they explained.
“People with chromophobia experience severe anxiety or panic attacks when they see a color they fear.”
Anto described going outside into a world full of bright colors as “the same way people [feel] get on planes if they have a fear of flying.”
He gave his followers a quick glimpse into his bedroom, showing off the black, white and gray runners next to his bed.
He even opened the door of his closet to reveal his “completely monochrome wardrobe.”
To prove that he wasn’t just using any filter, Anto placed a bright orange box on his bed.
His followers shared their thoughts on the unique setup in the comments.
“The fact that your room looks like this is seriously impressive!!! I also didn’t know chromophobia existed until this,” one viewer wrote.
The most popular colors for interior design in 2024
Homebase has announced the official trend colours for this year.
To predict the most popular shades for 2024, Homebase analysed sales data to identify five colours that have proven to be hugely popular with customers.
Copper, pink and black are expected to be the most popular colours on British walls this year, while bathrooms are surprisingly seeing more and more terracotta shades.
The five most popular colors for 2024 are:
- Copper (+57%)
- Pink (+38%)
- Black (+34%)
- Green (+29%)
- Orange (+27%)
Copper has replaced rose gold, while blush is the new magnolia colour and Brits are also taking a bold approach by painting their walls entirely black.
Green is always a popular color, but the shade ‘Fresh Herb’ – a versatile, light gray-green hue – is ending up in the shopping carts of hundreds of customers.
Meanwhile, terracotta takes over with ‘Frosted Papaya’, a peachy orange shade dominating the bathrooms.
“This is such a 1975 fan at the core of 2014,” another TikTok user joked.
“I think the lack of warm lighting is what sells the most. It makes the place look a lot less yellow and colorful,” someone noted.
Another viewer jokingly compared the room to the “gray flood in Halloweentown.”
“This is actually a form of torture,” one follower wrote.
“Have you by any chance fallen victim to the sad beige baby aesthetic?” asked another person.
