I’m being trolled for spoiling my kids with £230k cars – lazy parents are just jealous
A COUPLE who both grew up in social housing but are now millionaires say they are not ashamed of spoiling their children and that “lazy parents” are just jealous of them.
Barrie and Scott Drewitt-Barlow are the parents of Valentia, 3, and Romeo, 2.
Businessman Barrie also has six children from his previous marriage: Colin, 35, twins Aspen and Saffron, 25, Orlando, 20, and Jasper and Dallas, 15.
In 1999, Barrie and his ex Tony rose to fame when they became the first gay couple to have children through surrogacy.
The pair went on to earn a whopping £200 million from various business ventures, including a transatlantic surrogacy business, meaning they were able to spoil their children from day one.
In a recent video on Truly, Barrie and Scott gave a sneak peek inside their new mansion in the Essex countryside, which they’ve spent £9million transforming into their dream home, complete with aquarium, stables and swimming pool.

Barrie said, “We like to share what we have with others.
“We are so used to it now and our children are used to it too.
“I grew up in social housing and so did Scott, so every day we think, ‘Holy fuck,’ this is our house.”
He continued: “When you grow up in social housing, you just want to get out. That’s what we did.
“I’m a firm believer that you get out of things what you put into them. Work hard, you’ll make a lot of money – what can I say.”
Barrie said he loves his children, adding that he thinks anyone would spoil their children if they could afford it.
Scott added: “Anyone who comes across your path and says, ‘Oh, you’re just spoiling them,’ would do exactly the same thing. They just don’t get off their asses and they don’t really do anything with their lives… it’s just pure jealousy.”
Recently, the couple Aspen and his wife Pim each gave each a car as a wedding gift.
Pim was very happy with her Rolls Royce, but Aspen complained that his Audi was “a bit small”.
“I think the Rolls Royce is better,” he said.
Who are Tony and Barrie Drewitt-Barlow?
BARRIE Drewitt-Barlow and ex-husband Tony were Britain’s first gay fathers. They had twins, a boy and a girl, through surrogacy.
The couple met in 1987 when Tony stopped at a petrol station in Manchester to ask for directions.
Tony had won second prize in the New Scientist of the Year Award at the time.
The couple went to court to get permission to list same-sex parents on birth certificates as “parent one” and “parent two” instead of “mother and father.” It was a landmark case for the LGBTQ community.
Saffron and Aspen were conceived using the eggs of one woman, Tracie McCune, and were then carried in the womb of another woman, Rosalind Bellany.
Although Barrie and Tony both have a child, they have never revealed which father is the biological father of which twins, as they want to be equal parents.
They have made their money from various business ventures, including a transatlantic surrogacy business and a global medical research company. They also make money from real estate.
The couple split in 2019 after Barrie confirmed he was in love with his daughter Saffron’s ex, Scott.
Aspen’s twin sister Saffron also recently eyed a £10,000 Mercedes that her father bought for her.
“When she saw it she hated it straight away,” Barrie said on Channel 5’s Rich House Poor House programme.
“I really don’t know what else we can do to make the girl happy.”
Barrie then bought Saffron, who previously received £5,000 pocket money a month, a Mercedes worth £230,000.
Barrie defended his decision to spend money on his children, telling Truly, “If I want to spend money on my children, I’ll just do it.”
“Ultimately, if you can afford to buy something for your kids, then you will.”
