I’m getting trolled for chores I never do for my husband – but I’m not a slave or his PA
A mother has sparked a heated debate after sharing a lengthy list of all the things she ‘refuses’ to do for her husband.
In the now viral videoWorking mother of four Paige Turner stressed that she was her partner’s wife – and ”not his mother” – and disagreed with him taking on more than her fair share.
“I don’t do his laundry,” she began, explaining who was responsible for which items of clothing.
“He can do that himself. I do my laundry, and We doing the child’s laundry. He does his own laundry.”
She then revealed the kitchen and cooking duties, saying, “He cooks dinner every night. I make breakfast and lunch for the kids.
“When he’s hungry, he thinks about what he’s going to eat for lunch just like I do.”
Paige also said that when it comes to calling a doctor for an appointment, her husband has to do it himself, without her help.
“I want him to be healthy, but he’s a grown man, he can book his own appointments.”
Other things the busy mother of four won’t do for her husband include booking his hairdresser, packing his vacation outfits and buying him new underwear when his old ones are full of holes.
The husband can do all that himself, since Paige was neither his “personal secretary nor his personal assistant.”
Instead of a slave who ‘cared for him’, the woman was ‘his partner’ and ‘his equal’.
While some felt Paige was completely heartless in her approach, Paige noted that she still performed small, kind acts – but not in the form of household chores that piled up.
For example, if Paige walks into a store and sees a record she knows her husband likes, she will buy it. The same goes for a treat from the supermarket.
The video, which has been viewed more than 5 million times, was clearly a hit with many, with one commenter saying: “He married me, but he didn’t hire me!” and “I think this is great for you, Queen!”
“Preaching. Raising your spouse is such a turn-off,” a second echoed.
A third agreed: “Exactly as it should be. Teamwork, not subservience.”
But someone else asked: “Why don’t you just do the laundry together? It all gets washed anyway, it just seems like more work for everyone.”
