I’m in my 40s and my foundation ‘tapping’ trick gives me natural looking coverage
A 40-year-old woman has revealed a simple makeup application trick that gives her a natural and youthful look.
She explained that she had tried every possible method of applying her foundation, but this method had given her the best results so far.
Reddit user Darktrain shared the foundation tip she recently discovered in a after.
“I’m in my late 40s and have been wearing foundation for over 30 years,” she said.
“Beauty blenders, brushes, applying little dots with my fingers and then blending it out, I’ve tried it all.”
TAP TECHNIQUE
She remembers seeing someone on social media who said he smeared foundation on his fingers and “dabbed it on his face,” which inspired her to try the technique herself.
“Oh my god, it went on so evenly and smoothly and quickly. I couldn’t believe it. So now I do my foundation like this,” she said.
She explained that she starts by pumping one pump of the product into her left palm.
Then she taps the foundation with the middle three fingertips of her right hand.
With her right hand she transfers the pressure to the middle three fingertips of my left hand,

She then lightly rubs both parts against each other, creating an even layer that is evenly distributed.
With both hands, she gently taps the foundation onto her face with her ‘finger pads’.
“Once I have a fairly even coverage, I go over the areas where it needs to be with my fingers and apply more where it’s not completely covered,” she says.
She added that her favorite foundation is It Cosmetics’ Your Skin But Better, which is $46.
REDDIT REACTIONS
“Just tap? No rubbing to spread it on the skin, right?” asked one Redditor.
She replied that it was “just tapping” and nothing more.
Several other users were already familiar with the technology.
“I’ve only ever applied foundation this way for twenty-one years,” one of them said.
“Nobody taught me that foundation trick. I just started doing it one day and never stopped,” said another.
She told how she used the technique on her wedding day, and her bridesmaids stared at her like she was crazy until they saw how “flawless” she looked.
“When I use a brush or beauty blender, my makeup gets clumpy and I can see the texture, but never when I apply it with warm hands,” she adds.
“I used to only use a sponge for my foundation and now I use a brush and only use the sponge to blend out the brush lines. I think it looks so much nicer,” someone else wrote.
