I’m nearly 40 but my skin looks better than ever – a £1.49 buy from Aldi is a must
A woman has revealed the simple steps she takes to maintain a youthful complexion.
She shared exactly which products she used to improve her skin and shave years off her appearance.
In a Reddit afteruser Naselflee shared a comparison of her skin tone, nine years apart.
She explained her affordable anti-aging routine, which she says visibly improved her skin in just four months.
“I started taking really good care of my skin because I was getting older and looking older than I actually am,” she explains.
The 39-year-old expressed her surprise at the effectiveness of her regimen.
“I was just going through my old photos and came across this photo of me from nine years ago,” the poster said.
“The difference in texture and skin is astonishing.”
She revealed the beauty products she swears by, starting with her morning routine.
The Redditor said she starts her day by washing her face with manuka honey.
She added that she buys jars of fresh honey at the local farmers market.
“[I] “I just wet my face with warm water, scoop out a teaspoon and rub it on my face for about a minute,” she explained.
“Then I leave it on while I shower and wash it off there.”
She explained that she started researching manuka honey after purchasing honey eye drops to help relieve her ocular rosacea.
“I started reading more about that honey and there’s more and more research coming out that shows manuka honey is good for calming inflamed skin,” she said.
She added that the substance softens her skin.
For her next step she applied the £1.49 Super Booster Hyaluronic Acid Serum from Aldi.
Finally, she applied the £8.82 Cicablast Baumé Neutrogena Hydro Boost sunscreen before leaving the house.
For her evening routine, the Redditor starts by washing her face with the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel Cleanser, available for £5.60 on Amazon.
She also applies a face mask with manuka honey, leaves it on for 10 minutes and then washes it off. She then applies tretinoin.
Benefits of Honey in Skin Care
A study published by the Wiley Online Library found that Manuka honey plays a role in anti-aging.
Researchers found that topical application of 10% manuka oil “significantly reduced the average length, depth, and percentage of wrinkles.”
It also helped to inhibit the loss of collagen fibers and epidermal hyperplasia.
The study also found that manuka oil “may suppress UV-B-induced skin inflammation by inhibiting the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines.”
The experts concluded that “manuka oil indeed has an anti-photoaging effect.”

“I think tretinoin helped a lot,” the poster said, adding that her makeup change also improved her skin’s hydration.
“I think switching to dewy makeup really helped too,” she explains.
“I used everything that was mattifying, but it accentuated my lines and stripped my skin of moisture.”
She added that she only realized how much these steps helped improve her skin when she came across a photo of herself at age 30.
Reddit users shared their thoughts on the transformation in the comments.
“WOAH! I even showed it to my mom and she thought the one [from nine years ago] “When I was older I looked so good and my skin looked so radiant,” said one reader.
“It definitely lifted your entire face in a way, it’s an 11 out of 10 result,” someone else wrote.
“Your skin looks absolutely amazing, what a difference!” commented a third Redditor.
