He was head of visual identity for Sterling Furniture and is said to be the driving force behind their Crimbo themes.

Inspired by his work and suggestions on social media, his home in Glasgow’s east end is now a shrine to Santa Claus.

It has two huge trees and amazing centerpieces everywhere you look, from the dining room to the hallway.

Phylip has been curating his collection for over 30 years, sourcing expensive specialty pieces and more model trinkets from store favorites such as Home Bargains and The Range.

He said: “As crazy as it sounds, I will know what I plan to do in the next year by the time I complete my current setup.

“I make notes to refer to, in terms of any additional items I need.

“And as soon as the stores have stock, I buy what I need.”

He added: “How long it takes depends on time constraints and other commitments.

“I have to assemble and fluff an 8-foot tree and a 10-foot tree, which usually takes about six hours each.

“I put 10,000 LED lights on the larger tree and 6,000 on the other, which takes an extra six to eight hours each.

A small Christmas tree planted by a couple in 1979 is now a tourist attraction after growing more than 15 meters tall

“Then there are the extra large wreaths that I made to measure, so that will take me a few more hours.

“This year I had more free time.

“So I spread the whole setup over four weeks, which I started at the end of October.

“It is a very labor intensive and detailed job and it usually takes a week to pack everything.”
