Hollie added that if they didn’t have that they would always have “Weetabix and honey or fruit and yoghurt”.

“What do you feed your children for breakfast?” she asked.

“Did she really tell you this wasn’t good enough?? Really?” someone wrote in the comments.

To which Hollie replied, “Yes, now I’m going to weigh my son every month.”

“I had to give my kids chocolate chip cookies for breakfast today out of respect because summer vacation is over and I’m fighting for my life,” added another.

“This is a great breakfast!”

“It could lead to eating disorders in the future.

“I’m honestly fed up with the community nurses.”

“This is gastronomic!”

“Honestly I love this,” said a third.

“My daughter actually ate a bag of chips for breakfast last summer!”

What advice does the NHS give to help children maintain a healthy weight?

The NHS has a lot of advice on their website about how to help children maintain a healthy weight.

She consultation Parents must:

  • Encourage your children to do something every day. It can be a good idea to find something they enjoy doing, such as sports or playground activities, and encourage that
  • Try to feed them a healthy, balanced diet with fruits and vegetables, starchy foods, proteins, and dairy products.
  • Use rewards like stickers when your kids reach their activity or food goals
  • become their role model by staying active and eating healthy
  • help them get enough sleep. Enforcing a regular bedtime routine and removing technology from their bedrooms will also help them stay healthy

“I don’t see any problem with this breakfast. As long as they eat healthy, who cares?”, insisted another.

Others used their comments to give Hollie advice on cutting down on the amount of sugar in her breakfast.

“You could easily make some changes to make it healthier,” one person wrote.

“You can use Greek yogurt and mash some fruit through it. This way you avoid the pre-packaged yogurt containing too much sugar.”

“It contains a lot of sugar as bread, jam, yoghurt and fruits turn into sugar,” added another.

“Although fruit contains vitamins, it is still sugar in the body. Fruit is very good, but all together it is a lot.

“I don’t want to put you down, I have a toddler and she’s a pain in the ass, so I’m scratching my head about eating less sugar. It’s hard!”

As a third said: “It’s not great, but better than a lot I’ve seen! I agree with no jam – peanut butter/nut butter or just good quality butter is so much better.

“And yogurt is full of sugar, so maybe Greek yogurt and toppings.

“But we’re all human and sometimes we have to eat like this!”
