I’m the UK’s most glamorous grandma – here’s my secret to staying youthful at 73
The UK’s most glamorous grandmother has revealed how she can become Britain’s most beautiful pensioner.
Suzy Monty, 73, has a bikini body that people half her age would kill for and has been a model for more than 50 years.
She has been married for over 50 years and believes there are a few key ways to stay young.
Suzy said: “Lots of walks in the countryside and along the coast with my dog.
“Housework, which I actually really enjoy doing, because I like a clean and tidy house.
“It’s just as good as a gym workout and more productive too.
“Cook and eat healthy food. No fried foods.
“It’s true, the saying ‘you are what you eat.’
“I’m not a couch potato. No daytime TV for me, I’m too busy.”
But Suzy also wants to emphasize that appearance is not the key to happiness.
She added: “In general, women are very positive and complimentary about my appearance.
“Actually, someone said to me the other day, I need to promote myself more, but I’m not interested in becoming a celebrity.
“I prefer to keep it calm and just get on with my life.
“I have been offered to appear on TV before, but I turned it down.
“There’s too much travelling involved as I live in beautiful Cornwall and most of the media attention is in London.
“I’m not a city girl, for me the countryside is more my thing.
“And it doesn’t matter what shape or size you are, what matters is how kind and friendly someone is.
“I’m lucky that I inherited good genes. My parents didn’t look that old either.
“But it’s about personality and being decent to others.”
She wants to look natural and can’t imagine having plastic surgery.
One of the biggest issues she has with people assuming she had surgery is that she wouldn’t have had the money in the first place.
Suzy said: “I would never have plastic surgery because I believe that what is natural should remain natural, unless there is a medical reason of course.
“I look beyond a person’s size. One of my best friends is 22 stone but is an extremely nice person. Who cares about size?
“I had a slight bursitis in my thigh and had to go to a young physiotherapist. He couldn’t believe my age.
“I just thought it was funny when he gave me the plank exercise to go away and do. I said ‘I’m 73, not 23’ and he laughed and gasped in disbelief.
“Anyway, luckily walking cured the pain. I would say I look 50. In my 50s I looked 20. I’m just lucky I guess
“I absolutely cannot afford any age-defying magic potions or treatments.”
