I’m Vicky Pattison’s makeup artist, my lash hack is like Botox for the eyes
FALSE eyelashes are a great way to add instant glamor to your beauty look.
But they can be an intimidating experience because, if applied incorrectly or the wrong size, they can look more gruesome than glamorous.
However, there are many tips and tricks to prevent your lashes from looking too heavy or smaller.
Vicky Pattison’s makeup artist Lielle Neury reveals how to tackle false eye for every eye shape.
HOODED EYES
If you have hooded eyes and want to create the illusion of larger eyes, you should emphasize the center of the eye as this creates a wider eye shape that is more open.
Placing eyelashes on the outer corners can make the eyes look droopier
looks heavy, and is often the reason I find people with hooded eyes don’t like how lashes look.
I would use a natural/wispy lash Eyelash Emporium.
ALMOND EYES
If you want to accentuate almond eyes and don’t mind hooded eyes, I would recommend a half lash to create a ‘feline’ effect.
This will essentially elongate the eye and enhance your natural eye shape.
DOWNED EYES
For downward facing eyes, you want to take your lashes to the next level and create a ‘lifted’ look. I like to phrase this as ‘Botox for the eyes using eyelashes’.
Use soft and wispy doll-style lashes that are evenly curled throughout.
Using your fingers or tweezers, gently press the lashes and hold them at the base once they have just been applied and the glue has become sticky, keeping them lifted for naturally straight lashes.
Lielle Neury’s ‘tightening tip’
According to Lielle, tightlining is your best friend for a seamless, natural eyelash look.
Tightlining is an eyeliner technique in which eyeliner is applied to the upper waterline, the area directly below your top lashes, to create the illusion of thicker, fuller lashes.
It’s a subtle way to define your eyes and accentuate your lash line without a bold line of eyeliner. This is also a must if you want a traceless false lash look, as there will be no ‘gap’ between your lash line and your straight line.
When applying your false lashes, always make sure your glue is tacky before applying and also clamp the false lashes together with your natural lashes, not only for a seamless blend but also for comfort.
This means you don’t get irritated while wearing your eyelashes.
