In Gujarat, PM Modi to meet beneficiaries of Centre’s solar power project | India News – Times of India
NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Vavol area in Gandhinagar on Monday to meet the beneficiaries of the Prime Minister’s Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, news agency ANI reported.
PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana is a recently launched scheme designed to provide free electricity through rooftop solar panels to over one crore households in India.
Jagshibhai Suthar, a local beneficiary, expressed his enthusiasm and said, “We are very happy that Prime Minister Modi is coming here. Our house now has free electricity because of this programme and it has made a huge difference in our lives.”
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi was warmly welcomed at Ahmedabad airport as he began his visit to the United States. Gujaratwhere he will participate in the Global Renewable Energy Investors Meeting and launch several development projects worth over ₹8,000 crore.
Sharing his plans on social media platform X, the Prime Minister said, “After memorable programmes in Jharkhand, I recently landed in Ahmedabad. I will be attending various programmes in Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad on September 16.”
He added: “In the morning I will interact with the beneficiaries of the Prime Minister Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana and later I will participate in the 4th Global Renewable energy Investors meet and expo at Mahatma Mandir.
Prime Minister Modi also said, “In the afternoon, I will lay the foundation stone for a series of development works worth over ₹8,000 crore. These projects include power, roads, housing and much more.”
The RE-INVEST 2024 programme at Mahatma Mandir will showcase India’s progress in renewable energy. The two-and-a-half day event will include a Chief Ministerial Plenary, a CEO Roundtable and discussions on topics such as innovative financing, green hydrogen and future energy solutions.
Delegates from partner countries such as Germany, Australia, Denmark and Norway will be present, as well as participants from Indian states such as Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh and others.
The summit will celebrate India crossing 200 GW of installed non-fossil energy capacity and showcase groundbreaking innovations from both the public and private sectors through an exhibition.
In addition, Prime Minister Modi will announce India’s first summit From the Metro from Bhuj to Ahmedabad as well as several From Bharat Trains on various routes including Nagpur to Secunderabad, Kolhapur to Pune and Varanasi to Delhi.
