Incoming is the second most watched movie on Netflix, but it’s a boring movie – here are 3 better teen comedies with over 80% on Rotten Tomatoes to keep the party going
New Netflix Movie Incoming is the second most-watched title on the global top 10 list of the best streaming service this week, with action comedy The Union taking first place for the second week in a row.
It’s safe to say that Incoming has not been well received by critics, given its disappointing 30% Rotten Tomatoes score. But that hasn’t stopped The guard describing the Super bad-style comedy has been labeled “super unfunny” and its worldwide subscriber count is good for nine million views.
The Netflix teen film follows four teenage boys as they prepare for a night of chaos and debauchery at their first high school party. Incoming While it wouldn’t make our list of best teen movies or our list of best Netflix movies, here are three better, highly rated teen comedies to watch that are guaranteed to provide an unforgettable party.
You are absolutely not invited to my Bat Mitzvah
- RT score: 91%
- Age Rating: PG-13
- Length: 103 minutes
- Director: Sammi Cohen
Based on the young adult novel of the same name by Fiona Rosenbloom, You are absolutely not invited to my Bat Mitzvah stars comedy mastermind Adam Sandler – if you’re looking for more films starring the comedian, here are five Adam Sandler movies to watch next – and his own family, including his wife Jackie and two daughters Sadie and Sunny.
In You are absolutely not invited to my Bat Mitzvah, BFFs Stacy Friedman (Sunny) and Lydia Rodriguez Katz (Samantha Lorraine) have always dreamed of epic bat mitzvahs. But things go comically awry when they compete for the attention of the same popular boy and a high school tragedy threatens to destroy their friendship.
Sandler steps back into a supporting role and lets his daughter Sadie steal the show in this brilliant coming-of-age comedy that’s as cheerful as it is funny. It’s clear that Sandler’s successful goofball comedy has been stamped on his own family, which You are absolutely not invited to my Bat Mitzvah a wonderful addition to the Netflix library.
Take revenge
- RT score: 85%
- Age Rating: R
- Length: 118 minutes
- Director: Jennifer Kaytin Robinson
Sometimes in life all you need is a good old teen movie to take you back to the noughties. Well, Take revenge will definitely help with that. After watching Mean girls more often than I care to admit, Take revenge is among the best Netflix Original films I’ve ever seen.
Inspired by Alfred Hithcock’s Strangers on a train, This bizarre teen drama follows two very different students, Queen Drea (Camila Mendes) and awkward teen Eleanor (Maya Hawke), who form an unlikely alliance to take revenge on the bullies who ruined their lives.
Robinson pays tribute to many iconic high school movies from the 90s with its aesthetic and nostalgic soundtrack, but Take revenge manages to put its own unique stamp on the genre through its satirical humor and Gen Z self-awareness, which I found funny. If our Take revenge review writes: “Take revenge is not your average teen comedy on Netflix’, and that is certainly true.
